A very good boat. I have used many different kayaks and found this to be a great kayak. I would call it the "Toyota Land Cruiser, SUV" of kayaks, as that it can carry a lot, get you by in rough and tough conditions, and its quality is tried and trusted. First, it is fast and tracks very well. The lack of a skeg and the wee little rudder is no problem for the experience paddler. For it size, you can move and manuever efficently and effectively. As for space, there is more than enough room in the front and back bulkheads for a long, long trip. I have used this kayak in very difficult conditions, to include high winds and waves and I found this kayak to be responsive and steady, despite its length (It can be difficult to turn in high winds and waves at times, but I should not have been paddling in those conditions anyways). I have used this kayak in the Atlantic Ocean, small and large rivers, and the Great Lakes, where the frequency of wave is, in my opinion, more treacherous and difficult to manage than those in the Altantic. The rub is, and is for all fiberglass and kevlars, finding suitable areas for hard landings (bring lots of duct tape). Although the kevlar is not going to puncture or crack-open on rocks and obstacles, it has a similar finish to those of fiberglass design which is just as sucseptable to cracking and divits. The only rub is the cost...This boat originally retailed at 3k. I suspect you can get a used on in good condition for under or around 2k.
