Axesspaddler

Strength:

I've had my Axess for exactly 20 years -- summer of 1999 to now. Class 1-III whitewater every season, and it's still in great shape. I've had other boats, but none ever came close to the versatility and quality of this one. It's built like a tank, yet it's still nimble enough for fun. Thanks Jim Snyder, for this outstanding design (even Jim has said he likes this boat best of all his designs for low water days).

Weakness:

Cockpit is a bit large for serious whitewater, but a good sprayskirt helps. I replaced the neoprene spray skirt with a custom-made Skirtworks model, and it works perfectly. I won't huck any large waterfalls, but otherwise no problem.

Necky Lookshaw IV is a thuroughbred touring kayak. It handles beautifully, tracks well, is speedy and efficient, and has good secondary stability. The fittings are intelligently designed and positioned, and the rear deck provides a good platform for self rescue.

Paddler

The axess is an excellent boat if your wanting a stable platform for fishing, photography, or just introducing someone to the joys of kayaking. The wide beam gives it an initial stability that will give a novice the confidence to explore new things. The secondary stability is decent. If your a bigger paddler the extra room is a bonus. I have taken it out several times on muliple day trips, with wise packing a three day float is no problem what so ever. It will turn on a dime and handle rough water like a champ. How ever if speed is what your after this may not be the boat for you.I have never rolled it so I can't say much on that subject. I have had this boat for about a year and a half and absolutly love it. On a river with decent current or rough water the axess is in it's element but on long eddies or lakes it can take a toll on the paddler.

Customer Service

This is one tough boat. I have owned several perception kayaks and have never had problems with quality or workman ship.
