Yes, it is a swimvest designed for women. Yes, its princess seam front panels break at the bust line, allowing for snug and comfortable adjustment. And, yes, men like the Lola as much as women do.

I agree with Sara D. I am 5'6" and own a size s/m Lola. It does not work well at all for short torsos (and my torso is pretty average for my size). It interferes with the seat back in the boat. If I loosen it a bit to accommodate for the seat, the front hits my chin because the neckline is too high. Overall, having heard so many great things about this women-friendly pfd I must say Lotus greatly disappointed. The guys I have lent it to love it! Guys do have longer torsos, so perhaps that is why. I might have been better off in a xs/s, if they come that small, but that might have been too tight on the torso. Unless Lotus incorporates other aspects of female bodies than chest size, this is not a vest I would recommend for other women to look at.

I now wear a Kokatat OutFit (size s). Great chest room, low-cut back, and low neckline. Kudos to Kokatat!

I know many other women like the Lola, but I don't. This vest has serious drawbacks for two body types: short-waisted and/or full-figured women. There is no room for breasts in this vest, period. Also, the neck vee isn't deep enough, so one's chin hits the vest when looking down to fish in the pocket. And if one cinches down the shoulder straps, they close in on one's neck and rub uncomfortably. Better choices: Stohlquist BetSEA (the large size can accomodate a D-cup) or Kokatat MsFit Tour.

I echo the sentiments of earlier reviewers. The Lola is supremely comfortable and quite tough. I have managed to rip the outer fabric slightly (more of an abrasion really) after a particularly nasty swim over some sharp rocks. The Lola is very adjustable in terms of fit and has a very handy pocket on the front.

this is a great PFD. I don't understand why they label it as a "girls" PFD-it fits great and is comfortable after hours of paddling. Rolls well, too.

Great jacket! Like other reviewers have said, this PFD is "mislabeled' as a women's jacket. It's light, comfortable, and is adjustable in more ways than any jacket I've ever had. Lotus, IMO, is hands-down the best PFD maker, and the Lola is a great jacket without having to spend a bundle.

It's so comfortable it's very easy to forget you're wearing it. I capsized and did my wet exit, and was treading water busily as I got the boat righted and such before I remembered I was wearing the PFD! It fits so well that it didn't budge at all in the water, even when I relied on it to completely support me.

I've had this vest for several years, and no matter what anyone says, it's not just for gals. I know several gals that have it, but I also know pleny of guys that like it too. I got it because it fit better for me (especially because of the cinch straps on top of the shoulders - they really help tighten it down) and had plenty of bouyancy (rated at Type III min (15.5 lbs)). One especially nice feature is the cordura exterior - I've had to portage more than once and swam in adverse conditions on more than one occasion and have never torn it - I've used other jackets that have nylon exteriors, and they tend to wear out about twice as fast.

Customer Service

Lotus is great to work with - they're out there trying out their equipment and thus they know exactly how it performs and what to expect from it... they also continue to upgrade small items and improve comfort and performance.

I worked at Cascade Outfitters for about five years and in that time had a chance to try out virtually every lifejacket that was made at that time - Extrasport, Lotus, Stohlquist, etc... I wear this one, what more needs to be told?

Male Sea Kayaker, 36, 6'2" tall, 185 lbs. - yes, my friends give me a hard time for having a "girls vest" but it is probably the most comfortable PFD I've ever worn -- paddling with it for about 3 years. Only wish it had a pocket for my VHF radio...
