Feathered Friends Helios Vest Down Insulation

Feathered Friends Helios Vest Down Insulation

DESCRIPTION

At a mere 10 ounces and compressing to about the size of a baseball, the Helios Vest will go unnoticed in your pack until you pull it out for instant warmth. Like the Helios down jacket, the vest is cut to fit closely and unobtrusively under a shell jacket.

Another great FF product. I have the Helios jacket, but wanted to cut some more weight off the pack. Ordered a large vest on sale, since I have the large jacket. The large vest turned out to be quite a bit bigger, so I returned it for a medium. They didn''''''''''''''''t have any in stock, and made me a new one (with 750 instead of 700 as in the sale vests; no additional cost!). Fit much better, but still a tad large around the neck. But I''''''''''''''''m fine with it. So, I got a medium Helios vest with 750 fill, nylon shell: Total weight is 10.8oz Great quality, great pockets (well, cept for the small zippered one inside. I guess it''''''''''''''''s for sunglasses).

I just bought this vest from FF, one of the ones they have on sale. I love it. It's light, and stuffs WAY smaller than any fleece vest would. The loft is incredible...probably close to twice what the MtnHrdWear down vest I also looked at had, yet the whole FF vest weighs what the down fill in the MHW one does! The design of the pockets is very innovative, as you can see in the picture. There is no zipper, the top flap covers the bottom, both have elastic on them.
It also has separate sections down each side under the arms, rather than the front and back coming together there. My only regret is that I hadn't discovered FF earlier, as I would love to have one of their jackets rather than the one I do have. No more fleece for me.

Customer Service

I bought it on sale for $84, but I would gladly have paid full price for it.

Compared to the other down vests I've seen, this one beats them hands down. No contest.

This is by far the best down vest that I have ever used or seen. the design of the pockets is fantastic, the top flap overlaps the opening so that things stay in place without the hassle of a zipper. The lack of a zipper also makes the pockets much more comfortable to use as handwarmers, since you don't have a cold metal or plastic zipper against your wrists. this vest is incredibly light, and packs down about as small as you could ever need. I also got it on sale, but would recommend this vest at full price without hesitation.
