Lowe Alpine Belay Parka Down Insulation

Lowe Alpine Belay Parka Down Insulation

DESCRIPTION

The Parka uses the latest synthetic insulation, which performs well in the wet. The jacket is designed to fit over a shell when belaying but can also be used as outerwear in its own right.

This is a good jacket for its intended use, Belaying in the cold and wet.It weights about 2 lbs. The hood is huge, and will fit over almost any helmet. The sizing is big, the medium is more like a large, but I guess it was designed that way to allow fitting over everything you are wearing. The two outside pockets are huge and fleece lined for hand warming. Very nice. This jacket is big and warm. Downside is packability. The synthetic insulation is quite bulky and will take quite a bit of pack space compared to a down jacket. Otherwise this a great jacket. Note: I don''t think they make it anymore. The Patagonia Das Parka may be a better choice anyway as it is as warm and about 6 ounces lighter.
