I bought this parka after owning coats from bargain outlets and department stores for years, but as I get more seasoned, I wanted a coat that really keeps you warm. I wasn't expecting much, just something warmer than what I had owned in the past. What I got was very impressive. Why I bought cheap jackets all these years is a bit of a mystery to me now. This is the best item of clothing I have ever bought. And worth every bit of $300.00. It's not like wearing a coat. It's a bit like putting on a really thick layer of skin with fur. It moves and fits like a shirt, not a heavy coat. In the past, when going out in the cold, I would bundle up and and hold my arms in close to fight off the cold. You know, tuck up the hood, put the sleeves over your hands, and try to keep drafts out of your coat. This coat is different. It does not do cold. In fact, I was waiting for the drafts and cold spots when I wore it for the first time, but they never came. It's strange really, you look at people on the streets running for cover indoors and fighting off the cold as they make their way to wherever they are going, and you just stand there....not cold at all. You almost feel a bit guilty. It's like winter has no meaning anymore. The coat is filled with goose down and I'm sure that helps, but the wind will not go through this jacket, no matter how hard it blows. In fact, I have been out in wind chills approaching -15 degrees and strong enough to knock you off your balance, but still, the cold stayed away. This coat has changed my attitude toward going outside in the winter. I no longer dread it. Turns out, there is no such thing as cold days, just warm coats. There is one down side to this coat. It is too warm for mild climates. Anything at or above 35 degrees, and you begin to get too warm. But on those windy cold and snowy days when people are commenting about the nasty weather, you ask yourself "should I tell them"? If you have ever wondered why the Canada Goose looks at people seemingly puzzled about why they are apparently cold when they are outdoors on very cold windy days, putting on this jacket adds clarity to that.

Customer Service

very helpful-Do NOT buy this coat on ebay. There are fake North Face coats out there and they are worth nothing.
