Shopped around for the past months but wasn't suppose to purchase a jacket that pricy. Looked at ratting and other jacket that offer the same water resistance and the quality of the Arc'teryx was not even comparable + the Arc'teryx Beta Ar is made in Canada.

Went to REI to purchase The North Face Mountain Light. I have owened countless ML's over the years; however, after speaking with the sales person I decided to spend the extra 80.00 dollars on the Beta AR. The waterprofing is incredible. Jacket is super light and appears well made. (only time will tell.) I am most impressed with the jackets lack of frills. Not Velcro over the zippers etc etc.. Pockets are right where they should be. Hood is great and moves independently of the jackets body. Great fit. All this with Good looks. Sharp looking jacket.

I really love this jacket. It rains a lot in Minnesota and this is the first jacket to keep me completely dry. And I don't need to say anything about how amazing Gore-Tex is.

I have heard about how Arcteryx makes quality products. When I saw this jacket on sale, I just couldn''t resist. THe jacket is extremely well made, light and durable. I would not hesitate to use it for any of my mountaineering adventures. One note: this jacket is a hip length jacket, if you are in need of something that is longer, I suggest the Theta LT. I only give a 4-star rating to value at its regular price. At the price I paid, I give it 5-stars. Watch for sales on this one!

Yesterday I was skiing in Engelberg/Switzerland - one of the telemark- and freeride-capital. Weather was warm, no winds and I had dressed much to hot! Despite my sportive skiing I could regulate very well the heat and didn''t soak in sweat like previously with my conventional ski gear! Mission succeeded! Marc

Despite I write quiet well english, I''ll do it in german for all the foreign visitors: Die Jacke hat mich in Ihrer Machart (Tapes, Nähte, Schnitt) sofort überzeugt: Es gibt m.E. wenig besseres auf dem Markt der leichtgewichtigen Shells!
