I bought this jacket to wear to Mt. Rainier in 2001. It performed exceptionally well, althouth by the time I got to the top of that thing I was wearing literally EVERYTHING in my pack. (the pack was light!) Plenty of room to layer up under and over this jacket. I threw the jacket in the wash upon returning and it still beads water very well. The fabric is definitely extremely breathable. Lots of zippers and pockets but the lining can be a bit annoying as it can catch in zippers and such. It has a zip on hood which may not be to some people's liking but I hardly ever use it. Took this jacket skiing in Connecticut this past March and once again it performed as I expected. When I bought this jacket I also ordered a Gore Tex jacket in the same price range (for comparison), made by TNF I think. The Cervino was miles ahead in overall fit and features for about the same price. I would definitely recommend this jacket to anyone.

Jacket fit well and is indeed waterproof. Have taken it out on a few rainy trips, it hasn't lost its beading yet. Jacket is more comfortable than my previous Gore-Tex ones. I found the mesh liner annoying, it kept snagging on pretty much everything. Sturdy construction, I like the large number of pockets and thier placement. Great alternative to Gore-tex for the price. The Large size fit my 165 lb 5'11'' frame well, with ample room to layer underneath.

This jacket is awesome for mountain climbing and skiing. It has more pockets that you can fill and it's as waterproof as they come. It's pricey, but buy it if you find a good sale. There's other jackets out there that are basically the same, but Marmot has one of the best warranties around, although I haven't called them on it yet. I guess that's a credit to it's toughness and design.

I purchased my cervino jacket for a job guiding canoe trips last summer. During that time a storm hit that leveled 750,000 acres of forest. I was stranded for two days afterwards with no tent in a constant downpour. I am convinced that my cervino jacket saved my life. The membrain fabric is very competent as a waterproof layer and has superior breathability to the gore-tex items that I own. My only complaint with the jacket is that the coolmax mesh that lines the jacket has a tendency to get caught in the zippers of the map pockets and pit zips. I would definitely recomend this jacket. Especially to someone who plans to wear it everyday, as the fabric is much softer and more wearable than gore-tex.
