I bought my Marmot Stretch Armstrong jacket sixteen years ago, on sale for $100 off. Unfortunately I waited too long to order it and it came the day after I left to go climb Mt. Washington (and I froze without it). Since then I’ve climbed lots of mountains with it, worn it backpacking in all four seasons of the year, in all kinds of weather, and it is by far the single most important piece of clothing that I own. I’ve been deer hunting in Maine with it, kayaking in January in partially frozen rivers with it, gone exploring underground historical sites in the snow with it, gone ice skating with it, gone hiking in the rain in the summer with it – there is nothing I won’t do and nowhere I won’t go if I have this jacket. The stretch panels are wonderful for climbing, as they don’t limit movement. The numerous zippers, Velcro and pull strings allow for tightening everything up in cold winds or loosening in warm excursions, making it a truly four season jacket. The pockets are zippered and secure, so there is no fear of losing your passport as you climb a rock face. I rarely ever use the attached hood, but in heavy rain it’s very handy to have, and the visor is a very nice addition as it keeps rain off of your face. Windproof, waterproof and breathable, it is comfortable to wear in almost all situations, and fashionable enough to wear in even the most ‘civilized’ settings. I’m still amazed that I haven’t done any damage to it after all these years, as it has been through thick briars, been on plenty of sharp boulders, and has been ‘attacked’ by my Jagdterrier so many times and it is still in ‘as new’ condition. At the time I wasn’t sure if it was worth the price (since I was buying it online and had never actually seen one) but after sixteen years I can truly say it has far MORE than exceeded my expectations and has been the best clothing value of anything I have ever purchased.

I traded an old TNF 3 season for this jacket. It was brand new, and too big for my friend. I replaced a TNF meteor light with it. I love this jacket. The stretch panels are durable. Perfect for summer rains or winter storms. The only downfall is it has too many pockets, I consatntly lose my stuff within the jacket. Ive also forgotten to zip a pocket riding in the rain and gotten wet because of it. The various drawcords are the best when riding the bike to school.

I bought this jacket as a replacement for a old Helly Hanson Mountain Extreme which served me well for about 4 years. I did find it a bit heavy and restricting which is why I opted for a thinner jacket for my next purchase. I have been delighted with the MArmot. I cycle 20 miles a day through a complete range of conditions and I have found it to exceed my expectations consistently. My only gripe is that the thin material gets caught in the zippers more than i would expect. PLus I bought it at less than half prise so an absoulte steal

i recieved this jacket as a gift, i ordered a arcteryx theta lt and returned the arcteryx. While the arcteryx may be technically a superior jacket i just liked the fit and feel of this jacked and figured i would wear it more, which i think is what really counts. The water repellency doesnt seem to be that great atleast on the outside layer but i guess i could treat it, but i have never been wet and have been in some serious downpours, even though this jacket isnt really desinged for that. I dont give it 5 stars because i dont think it is something over the top exceptional, but i do think it is a great jacket, and would buy it again. I also really like the stretch sections. I hope it lasts a long a time.

This is a fantastic jacket! I got it on sale, so which makes it even more worth it, but its probably worth every penny of $350. I''ve worn it hiking in the rain and stayed perfectly dry, but the most impressive was snowboarding in it 3 days straight - never felt a drop. And its pretty warm too - with just an Arcteryx liner fleece I was good to go all day long on the slopes.

I was interested in a gore-tex jacket for cold weather hiking and skiing but had to jump on this deal when I came across it. The reviews of Marmot''s Membrain have been good and so far I have had no problems on 3-5 mile test hikes in the rain. I''m 6''3 185 and XL fits very well. The hood allows for good mobility and the construction is solid. A great jacket, even better when it''s a steal.

Ive had this jacket about 8 months now, and it fits good and has gotten the job done. I picked up this jacket and an acteryx theta, and returned the theta because i liked the fit and the overall features of the marmot. I know its not gore tex but it seems to breathe ok for me and has always kept me dry. The best thing i guess i can say is i wear it alot because it fits so well and does what its supposed to do. I like the standup collar as well, nice when you dont want to wear your hood.

Bought this jacket a few weeks ago, and I'm impressed. It's light, but feels like excellent quality. Used it for hiking in very strong wind, the hood is excellent and the fleece on the inside of the collar give a nice soft/warm feeling. Very good ventilation under the arms. The fit is also very impressive, it's quite tight but a 200 fleece jacket is no problem. Elastics in the fabric makes it very comfortable, and long arms is great for skiing or cycling. A very good buy.
