Great Jacket, totally waterproof, nice large hood for your big head. Please note that as long as you have a "YKK" brand zipper on any other coat or fleece it will Zip right in, you don't need to spend $200 on a fleece when you can get one at the store for $15.00. I use Goose down vest's from wall mart, other jackets, anything will zip right in for extra warmth so by a bigger size to accomodate space. Who cares the jacet only has three pockets, the liner can have seven! Excellent Jacket, Orange is great looking too!

I bought this jacket for two reasons: function and price. I needed a new Gore-Tex jacket for this season, and after doing the layer thing and having an anorak style shell for so long, I thought I needed a regular zip-up style parka, Gore-Tex, with a zip-in fleece option. This fit the bill perfectly. Although I haven't been able to really test it out in a torrential downpour or on 24" powdered slopes, I have a feeling it'll handle those perfectly, and as casually as a trip to the grocery store. The fit and finish of this parka is superb, Marmot style. It's roomy, comfortable and looks great (I've got the orange/black). Only 2 concerns: only 3 pockets, and hood a little to large (I beleive to accomodate a helmet). Otherwise, for the price, it mathced all my needs and then some. I can't wait to invest in more zip-in fleece for my versatile Marmot Vinson!

Customer Service

REI-outlet.com = superb! MarmotMountain.com = jury still deliberating. I have yet to receive the fleece I ordered, altho they said it would come 2 days ago.

The Marmot Vinsion is a great all around shell. I needed a jacket that could work well as rain gear, and a could weather parka. The Vinsion really performs as both. The atached hood is a really nice feature. The cest pockets are really nicely placed, but I do wish that there were another set of pockets below them. But thats just me being choosy. The only signifacant proublem is that during "hi-output" activitys I have notice a lack of breathiblity near the wrist. But don't get my wrong this is an awsome jacket.

This jacket is very well built and good looking. I have worn it in several down pours and I have stayed completely dry. Large velcro cuffs are nice. Being part of Marmot's alpinist series the hood is designed to handle helmets which I probably will never use, but I have found that useful for wearing large wool hats underneath. It can adjust in a lot of ways. I can't figure out why it has a peak in it though. Pockets design is useful for backpacking.
