Mountain Hardwear Exposure Parka Shell Jackets

Mountain Hardwear Exposure Parka Shell Jackets

DESCRIPTION

Built tough to take on the rigors of heavy use, the Exposure Parka is the choice of mountain professionals and fanatical recreationalists alike. Polyester reinforcements protect the shell from sharp rock and ice. Our extra-long, waterproof Simplex pit zips provide maximum ventilation for the CoolMax mesh-lined torso, and our Welded Waistcord reduces wear and tear in an area prone to abrasion. A powder skirt (with gripper elastic) keeps snow from invading your inner layers. The Ergo Hood keeps your head covered and your vision clear. You can access the Napoleon pocket without opening the front zipper, an inner pocket keeps a quart-sized water bottle from freezing, and fleece-lined hand pockets cradle cold fingers.

This jacket is completely BOMB PROOF !!! I love this jacket and don't think I could live with out it. I have had it skiing in 35+ F and been comfortable and I have also had it in white out conditions with temps around 0 f and was still just as comfortable. I have also had the jacket on while hiking in the pouring rain and stayed dry. The rings on the sleves for the gloves are a nice feature.

Customer Service

Mountaingear.com did a good job of shipping my item quickly and they have a great support staff that was more then willing to answer all of my questions

Bombproof. I have been in heavy downpours and very wet snow without any problems. Quiet material. Breathes well (though I use a Sierra Designs Genesis 3.0 for summer use). Have used it almost daily (excluding summer) for hiking, skiing, backpacking, work, and around town. It shrugs off lots of abrasion w/o showing much wear. Washes very well. Bought it "new" (barely used if at all) at REI scratch & dent sale but after a year of very heavy use I would not hesitate to pay street price for it. Highly recommended.

Keeps me warm and dry. No problems with it yet. This Conduit stuff works better than I thought it would. A very good jacket.

Did a 5 mile day hike near Castle Crags in Norcal couple weeks ago. Climate was about 40F with some slight rain. Had a MH Ozone fleece underneath. I was almost too warm. The jacket is very waterproof. Water beads up perfectly. Who needs to pay more for Gore? Snow skirt a plus. Pockets are conveniently located. Retail prices are a little high and I usually dont'' see MH stuff on sale. Fortunately I was able to get mine at a very reasonable price.

Hi, I've got the new Exposure Parka 11, it's made of Conduit now, MHs own version of Gore-Tex and I found it to be excellent, I bought it especially for a four month trip to Tasmania (only rained once) and New Zealand, the weather their was supposed to be showers but when it rained!!!!!! still this jacket was ace even after consitent heavy rain the water was still beading, and even though carrying a 70litre pack suprisingly cool, I know it's not really a trekkers jacket but would recomend to anyone. roger
PS It doesn't matter what I paid, well worth it!

A really good friend of mine give me this jacket for Christmas. Said that since I work in the Aleutain Chain, I should give it a try. WOW, WHAT A GREAT JACKET!!!! I've been in some pretty windy, rainy, snowy places and this jacket has work each and every time!! I believe that this jacket was made for Alaska and has made me a believer in Mountain Hardwear!!! I will buy more gear from them!

I've had the jacket for two years and i looks like it's new, nothing sticks to it, not dirt, water, snow, nothing. It is heavy but keeping dry and warm is priority when climbing or struggling with a stove in 20 below. Its got all the features you could ask for but it takes a little customizing to make them all work, like adding bigger pulls two the drawstrings and stuff like that. Also it has a powder skirt that is great for skiing but useless below zero degrees because it's too much of a pain to put on with gloves and you don't want to take your gloves off. But even without all of the little features it is still a kik ass jacket, the best jacket for long cold days. And it is the jacket used by search and rescue pros. No to backpacking and yes to mountaineering.

This parka has every feature I want: long pit-zips, storm skirt, retractable hood, cool Napoleon pocket. It is as tough a jacket as I have encountered and I used to work in an outdoor store. This is definitely a colder weather jacket though - great for snow sports and mountaineering! It is too heavy to wear as raingear in warmer weather, and the hood is not as manipulable as hoods on other jackets, but these are the only drawbacks in my opinion.

This is a substantial jacket and is a bit heavier than others that I have tried. It is nonthless comfortable and extremely durable. It can withstand a beating from the weather and also from rock. It's great for colder conditions. It also comes in a lot of sizes (and many women's sizes) so that I was able to get one that fit better in the sleeves than other jackets that I have. It handles the rain, and snow well and dries quickly ( alot quicker than I would have thought possible given the heavy duty fabric.)
