Patagonia Direct-X Jacket Shell Jackets

Patagonia Direct-X Jacket Shell Jackets

DESCRIPTION

For fast movement over rock and ice in full conditions, the Direct-X uses tough fabric, applied as lightly as possible. To absolutely ensure durability yet minimize weight, we have reinforced critical wear areas - and left every nonessential feature on the cutting-room floor.

after three months of wear, I feel I can give a basic review at least. The cut is big and the chest bunches up when in a harness. It is exceptionally waterproof and durable as I have had the chance to grind it in Ky sandstone and snowboard New England. Its simplicity is beneficial; there are no extras that will need fixing or add weight. It's light and fairly compactable when I need to store it away...

I wish the cut wasn't quite so boxy but I got it cheap and is proving itself to be one of my most important pieces...

For me, the perfect jacket. No fuss no bother. Very tough, good fit, just about perfect. I have aspired to a patagonia jacket for some time, but very hard to come by in Scotland. Eventually got hold of one in a new shop in Partick, Glasgow, and it only cost £130 instead of £230. V.good deal, for an incredible jacket.

Customer Service

Excellent customer service, and the catalogues are very inspirational. I would recommend them to anyone.

Crap! Boxy fit, bad cut, terrible design. That about sums it up. The design is neither here nor there, it's not long it's not short, the pockets suck with a pack or harness on. You can't see your skis let alone your feet when you're wearing a harness and it bulks up in the chest. That's a bit of an exaggeration but I was so disappointed with this jacket I can't believe it made it into production. Don't waste you're money and buy one of Patagonia's many other great jackets.

Customer Service

They're friendly and have nice voice's.

It is light and weather tight.
For me the best fitting jacket on the market. Not as short as some Arcteryx jackets but also not like an evening gown pattern like so many other jackets. Patagonia had some problems with early versions of the hood. Mine is a 99 model and the hood is fine. The hood is large enough for a helmet and it tightens around you face with just one drawcord in the back. I especially love not having drawcords in front of my face. Patagonia's optipull hood system is a nice feature. The only thing I don't like is the bulky pit zip storm flaps. I hope future models use the low profile water resistant or water proof pitzips like on their new Ice Nine jacket. My large weighs 22 oz. Pretty respectable considering the durability and protection You get.

Customer Service

I retuned an activist fleece pullover that had some loose stiching and they returned it no questions asked. They also return emails.

This jacket is great. i am not a fan of jackets with a draw string in the middle. This one is a bit shorter and does not have that feature. I feel it is very waterproof and breathes well. I am a huge fan of the hood having the bill to keep rain out of my face.

Customer Service

Patagonia is great. If you are not satisfied witha purchase they will take it back with very little hassle.

I love this jacket so far. It is a lightweight, go-anywhere, do-anything piece that leaves the "bells and whistles" at home. I just got back from a humbling trip to Mount Rainier where I learned that no matter how tough any fabric is, it's still no match for a misplaced swing of the ice axe (I managed to put a small nick in my otherwise perfect jacket). I found that the jacket did, however, repel the elements with the greatest of ease. I am extremely pleased with the performance of Patagonia's H2NO waterproof/breathable. The jacket even repelled the gatorade puddle made by spilling my hydration pack inside the bivy sack (I slept in the puddle all night).

The jacket has two large front chest pockets and a new single-adjustment hood. The hood, in fact would have to my only real complaint. The brim might as well not be there and the hood does not fit well over my helmet (although it does work). The pit zips are huge and do much to allow free ventilation through the jacket on muggy days.

best jacket on the market. love the shorter length. harness is totally accessible. bought it because most shells these days are way to long for my taste. if you put the harness under, then the jackets in the way, if you put the harness over the jacket, its tough to lift arms. i thought it was your pants job to keep your butt warm anyway. i like simple stuff, less to break off. TNF has become comical, with little doodads and tiny arm pockets and other crap. i suppose they work well carrying pencils around a college campus, which is where TNF caters to these days.

Customer Service

patagonia service is legendary.

Very light shell, repels the elements well.
Versatile, good for a variety of activities, i.e. snowboarding, foul-weather biking, hiking, flyfishing, etc.
Some problems w/ abrasion.

Customer Service

Patagonia has assured me they will fix or replace the abrasion area at the end of the season since my life currently depends on this shell.

This jacket rocks! It doesnt wet out, weighs nothing, and is really comfortable. I havent put it through the abuse of an ice axe yet, but so far it seams very durable. You will be pleased with this jacket.

Customer Service

Patagonia is an excellent company to deal with. Primarily because, rarely is there something to complain about, and when there is a problem, they're more than fair.
