4 Stars for overall, 5 if it was more breathable, 4 Stars value if purchased at outlet, full price would have gotten it 3 stars. This Jacket did very well in protecticng and keeping me dry in Wind and Snow Storms. I liked the low cut shell which kept out of my way with my harness on. I liked the back pocket for carrying items also. The ventelation was the only area I was not happy with. It had to be pretty cold or windy not to get to hot and sweaty inside. Though I used it for climbing such mtns. as rainer, hood, and in the wastach which it worked very good in as long as the temps were sub. freezing, I would not recommend it for any type of areobic workouts such as mtn biking, unless it gets really cold and windy. I also like the light weight. I would have liked pockets in the front, I seemed to keep trying to put my hands in a pocket(habit) but none was there. If this jacket had pit zip I would have kept it, as it was I returned it and purchased a Dimension(see report) jacket for breathabilty, Note that I also have a Stretch Gravity for the blizzard type weather, so this was a dupilate jacket for me, and since the Stretch Gravity has pit zips and this did not, and the Dimension had better breathabilty than this one, I decide to return it. If you are looking for light weigth and protection form the elements then this is a great choice.

Customer Service

The best, I returned this jacket with no problems form Patagoina for the above reasons, and they suggested the Dimension jacket, which I am very happy with.

OK folks ... this jacket is ALMOST perfect. Are you Patagucci guys reading this?? Good!!

Patagonia honestly does make some of the best gear on the market .... and while it costs half again as much, it usually lasts two or three times longer ... for you value freaks, do the math.

So ... I'd make ONLY two changes to this jacket .... use a waterproof zipper (which gets rid of the storm flap) ... and lose the goofy pockets. We don't need no stinkin' pockets.

IF ... IF Patagonia would do those two things, they'd have the most bomb-proof 12oz no-frills totally minimalist with complete protection jacket in the universe. Heck, Marky T might even start wearing a W/B.

Hey Mark!!

In all seriousness ... this is all the jacket any of you need for summer mountaineering. Get one!!

Kick Ass! I don't know about you but I was sick of carrying a heavy, bulky Gore-tex jacket everywhere I went just in case it rained. Well no more. In the summer the only reason for a shell jacket is incase the weather hit's the fan. The rest of the time depending on temperature anything from light underlayers to windstopper fleece do the trick. This jacket serves it's purpose flawlessly, it's there when you need it and you won't notice it when you don't. When the temperatures drop and the snow flies this jacket performs amazingly well in all but the nastiest sh#%, but that's why you have a one-piece suit. On ice or cranking turns it seals out the weather and layers well with a harness. It's not as fancy as that $700 dollar deal with all the useless flash and tackle but if you're looking for pure function this is it.

i wonder why they went from the full stretch fabric to only panels? weight saving sure, but it seems like the jacket was already really trim and light. i have the full stretch version and i must say that after an extended exposure to a really bad vermont storm i was the only one dry from the waist up... had i known the weather was going to be so bad, i would have brought a heavier (full length) shell, but it didn't matter. my buddies had full length technical wear from EMS and north face and i stayed dry while their stuff wetted out. this thing is a full blown light weight shell that can handle the most severe weather...

Customer Service
