REI Liberty Ridge parka Shell Jackets

REI Liberty Ridge parka Shell Jackets

DESCRIPTION

The primary focus in technical outerwear right now is weight reduction. Liberty Ridge takes full advantage of this trend. Three-layer construction allows a garment to be more lightweight, durable and packable than a comparable 2-layer garment with free-hanging lining

A very good all around jacket! I have a new baby at home, so I don't get out much to hike anymore, but I recently wore my Liberty Ridge while shoveling snow off the driveway. I was warm and comfortable, never sweaty, and the sloppy wet snow that was coming down never penetrated through the jacket. On the down side, I recently discovered that some of the "Elements" lining was coming apart in the hood of the jacket and sent it back to REI for replacement. I'm looking forward to receiving my new jacket (if only because we're expecting more snow this week).

Customer Service

REI customer service is fantastic. When I discovered a problem with the jacket, they were very helpful about taking care of it. I have been an REI member for some years now and I really like their people and their products.

This replaced a Columbia Bugaboo jacket, but I really don't even consider those to be on the same level. This is a far superior and more flexible jacket.

This jacket is worth $300. It breathes better than Gore-Tex products I have used in the past. The cut is roomy enough for a layer of insulation. The hood can be rolled up and secured with a strap inside the jacket. I prefer the Three layer jackets (like the Liberty Ridge) and I have never preferred "zip-in" shell jackets.

100% satisfaction is what the tag said. So far they have delivered

The REAI Liberty Ridge is a great jacket, waterproof, light, and very well thought out. I especially like the placement of the big outside pockets. For winter mountaineering, I can put energy bars and other small gear in there and it''s easy to get to. I also have Marmot and NF shells and, frankly, I prefer the REI Liberty. It''s an excellent value.

Customer Service

REI has great customer service, never a problem in dealing with them and I''ve always been satisfied with the outcome.

This is a nicely designed jacket for a great price. The Elements membrane seems to be every bit as breathable as Gore-Tex (this being the main reason for the nice price). Several design features that make me love this jacket are that it is a good length, not down to my knees but enough length that it doesn't interfere with a harness. The design is short on pockets which is nice because there is less bulk. The two pockets are well placed, well covered, and have a mesh interior fabric so the membrane can work effectively. The hood is huge and has several adjustments that can size it down if you are not wearing a helmet. The sleeve length is also quite long although this gives you a range of motion, without the waist riding up. All in all a nice, simple 3-layer coat that is light with clean lines and nice features. Buy one at the sale price if you can though $200 is still a steal!

Wow what an amazing jacket, I am sure that Y'all are thinking "what's a Georgia boy doing with a technical mountaineering jacket?" well I get my share of whiteouts and other fun stuff like that.(not really but a man can dream can't he) well enough about me let's talk about the best jacket in the world, The liberty ridge from REI. It's so comfortable and so breathable even in those sultry summer rainshowers that frequently pop up from nowhere and can last all day, kinda like when I was back in Nam trudging through the leech infested swamps, oops there I go again talkin about my self again. Anyway I would reccommend this extremly durable jacket to anyone except those damned preppy posers who are ruining The North Face, I'll bet ya Robert (the mountaneer from Vail who also likes the liberty ridge) will agree with me. what an awesome place to live, Vail. Well If I have inspired anyone to go out and buy this tremendous parka with my incessant rambeling you better do it quick, now that REI has dropped the price from $200 to $119 they will probably be flying off of the racks.Oh,and by the way I would gladly pay $300 for such a quality Item, how about you go check it out at rei.com

A great lightweight shell. I also own Mountain Hardwear and TNF shells and this is comparable in every way to those products, but at half the price! Totally waterproof, comfortable in wet conditions due to Elements membrane (like Gore-Tex) and huge pit-zips. Don't spend $400-$500 on one of the "prestige" brands until you take a look at the Liberty Ridge.

One of the features I like about REI products is their fit--why do the other manufacturers think everyone has short arms and legs?
