perfect for the frugal, ounce counting backpacker like myself. great deal for the price, holds up in rain, but only slightly more breathable than pvc. At first the inside is damp, but it doesnt really build up too bad. On hot days it gets real clammy, but the vents really cool off. Tough jacket, should last a a few more seasons. Good stuff. Like someone else said, best in cold weather. Hint with any rain wear (I don't care how breathable they say it is): Don't wear it when you are moving unless you absolutely have to. Instead put it on when you are stopped. If you wear it when moving, you will get soaked with rain that gets through and with sweat, then when you do stop you will be cold. Go ahead and get wet when you are moving, and put on the rain gear when you stop and it will help keep you warm. An old green beret seargent taught me this when I was in the army years ago. This jacket is great for the backpacker counting ounces. It's very functional, and holds up well in hard rain. I've worn mine in several driving rains, and have stayed dry. The only thing about this jacket, is that it tends to heat up pretty quickly. The core-vents work well, but this jacket is best in cooler weather. Great product at a low price!! This is an inexpensive (found Online for $30), lightweight, waterproof jacket! The hood has visor to keep rain away from your eyes/glasses and moves with your head, rather than constricting movement. Zips AND buttons. Has mesh pockets, and two vents (above the pockets). The cuffs velcro closed, making it easy to get on and off quickly. Since this isn't Goretex (and therefore affordable), I do get a little hot if it's warm outside (but I've learned if it's warm outside, I'd rather get rained on than carry raingear!). Otherwise vents work well. Also great as outerlayer for cold weather when backpacking (25-50 degrees). Similar Products Used: None |
