I have used these pants for back country snowboarding during late season wet snow i the french alps, and the pants kept me perfectly dry, so I can''t say, that I have had the same problems as the other guys. I would definetly recommend these pants for snowboarding in any terrain. Sometimes you can get lucky, and get these pants at a real bargain price - I don''t think, that I could have done better with similarily price shells, so I''m happy with my choice, and so should you be

these pants are in no sense of the word water PROOF. they will keep you dry for spills in the snow, but in crummy weather and sitting on snowy chairlifts, my but did end up wet. however, i used the pants for 3 years, then returned em' to the great folks at patagonia using the above as an excuse and got a refund. i love those guys! i now use the stretch triolet pants, which are much better . love em'.

Customer Service

god, the people @ patagonia rock. i returned my extremely used pair of drop seats after 3 years just cuz they weren't watter proof enough and they said "okidoky"!! they rock!!

The pants have worked well for me in the snow. I have been out for two light rain days in the mountains and I did not have any complaints. They are very heavy pants and do not pack up well. I like the ful zip ventillation.

Customer Service

Patagonia has always treated me right.

I would have to agree with the other reviewers, these aren't very waterproof. I started getting damp last week after just a few lift rides in a Tahoe wet snow storm (I didn't get cold just damp). That said, most of the time I have used them in mostly clear weather and they have been really good. Like the catalog says these are their most versatile pants. I really like the fit and the fabric is very durable. I use them for backcountry and lift-served telemark skiing most of the time I have either long underwear or a thicker pant and they are fine.

Customer Service

Patagonia Customer service rocks!

Marmot Alpinist bibs. I liked these but I grew out of them. The zippers kept unzipping at the waist, so I had to use safety pins to keep them closed. Also I am not sure that bibs are that great for sports that have an aerobic component like backcountry skiing. I overheated often.

The latest version of this pant has an upgraded fabric which helps the waterproofness a bit. I've been OK with it in Washington wet snow, but it's not Gor-Tex. The fit is nice with a high and very adjustable waist. Very durable fabric also.

Customer Service

Great customer service.
