These pants are great for backpacking and hiking, but not so hot for climbing.

They are highly waterproof and very well made for the price, but that baggy fit, wide legs and lack of articulation in the knees (and a gusseted crotch) made them kind of awkward for climbing.

The range of motion was pretty limited, espescially with a harness on ... And the baggy legs would probably catch on crampons ...

But aside from that I would reccomend them highly for backpackers and hikers.

I've had these pants for two years with no complaints at all. they've survived torrential rains, and snow storms on the summits of fourteener's. they clean well, and are excellent for waterproofnes. coupled with a good rain jacket, and water proof boots, you could wade through waist deep grass after a terrible rainstorm

When I lived up in Oregon, these pants got lots of use. They always keeped my dry and seemed to do an OK job of breathing. They don't get much use down here in Las Vegas, but when and where I'll ever need them, they'll be ready to go. Construction is very good and the cut seems just right. A real bargin!
