Salomon North America Crossmax 10 Pilot with S912 Ti Bindings All Mountain

Salomon North America Crossmax 10 Pilot with S912 Ti Bindings All Mountain

DESCRIPTION

The Salomon Crossmax 10 Pilot is designed for advanced/expert skiers who love to carve up the hardpack. The Crossmax, in comparison to the Scream series, is still a forgiving, easy-to-turn ski, but with a quicker turn radius. Designed for precision carving, the Crossmax is a high performance, on-piste ski. Pilot technology is the icing on the cake. A Pilot setup is a ski and binding sold together, and this burgeoning trend in the ski industry was pioneered, in part, by Salomon. You don''''t mount the binding to the ski in the traditional way with screws and drill holes; rather, you attach it via axes through the sidewalls of the ski, just above the edge. This method reduces the so-called dead spot that results from mounting the binding directly to the top of the ski, inhibiting the skis natural flex. Unencumbered, Pilot system skis perform better. Because the ski-binding connection is directly above the edge, shifting from edge to edge is quick and easy, and edge grip is nicely enhanced. [**NOTE: Bindings do not come mounted to skis. Mounting requires boot. If you''''re purchasing a boot with these skis, call us at 800-409-4502 and ask one of our Gear Experts about mounting.]

Strength:

Those little patches of clear stuff that used to send my skis out from under me are no longer an issue. I found that a more balanced stance than I was used to in turns was needed to maintain stability and staying slightly on the edges of the flat will keep from wandering. Stump Removal

Weakness:

Couldn't find any.

I bought these from new and was in two minds as I planned on doing more off-piste. However they're the dogs baas. Off piste in Scotland involves wind scoured ice and these puppies carve it with ease. In france I managed 49.5 mph on the glacier at L2A on new snow!!!!. Ive been skiing for 41 years and these make it incredibly easy for me old knees. My old Atomic ARC SL 205's were like driving a hillman imp at 100mph compared to these Ferraris at the same speed. No vibration and just wanted to go faster. Superb..............

I also have the Crossmax 9 w/o the Pilot System. I do have the sport plate, which I highly recommend adding, as it increases handling and responsiveness when carving. These skis are by far the best I've owned, and will serve an intermediate to advanced skier well. They perform well in all conditions, especially bumps and trees - though they're a little less stable on ice. They're a great all mountain / carving ski at a decent price. Buy these.

I'm a 48 year old "born again" skier thanks in large part to greatly improved ski technology of the past several years. After skiing a few other demos, I stepped into a pair of Crossmax 10s, was pleasantly blown away and bought a pair. Absolutely the most responsive skis I've tried, and the way they carve on ice is almost scary. Those little patches of clear stuff that used to send my skis out from under me are no longer an issue. I found that a more balanced stance than I was used to in turns was needed to maintain stability and staying slightly on the edges on the flat will keep from wandering. They took a few runs to get used to but go where I tell them to without hesitation. And my 48 year old knees don't bother me the day after any more.Price was definitly an issue, but I'm having more fun on the slopes than I have in 20 years.

I actually have the Crossmax 8 (non-pilot) but they are the best skis I have ever owned. They require some muscle to turn at slower speeds but in the bumps and at high speeds there is nothing better.
