This is a great pair of pants for a base layer in heavy activities. I own two pairs of the pants and have loved to use them in all aspects of life. If you do, however, want your girlfriend or your wife to wash your clothes when you return from nature I would recommend the Mountain Hardware ZeO2 because of their odor eliminating qualities. You decide, I recommend both nearly equally for everything else.

Customer Service

Patagonia is great about customer service, but I have never really had to use them for any of their other products.

Capilene is the best! I love these mid weights for less active pursuits. I do field work that requires periods of activity and then no movement and these are the perfect compromise. They've proven very durable and after 5 years they still don't stink! I use a lighter weight for high activity but these are very versitile(sp?)

These pants are great for those cool nights around the camp fire and that early morning hike. Even as the day warms up they wick so well that sometimes it's just not worth stopping to take them off. These are are very versatile all around pants. Highly recommended!

I bought these bottoms and was hoping that I hadn't plunked down $40 for nothing. Boy was I amazed with the quality and durability of these pants. They wick very well, and are perfect to wear under your pants on those days where the temperature is 60 or below. The capilene is very comfortable, warm, and lasts a long, long time. I wouldn't give these bottoms up for anything.

These are the best long underwear bottoms I've ever had. In fact they were the first I ever bought, 5 years ago, and they are still my favorites. They wick incredibly well, and are rarely too hot or too cold between temps of 0 and 40F. They've held up great.

These are very packable, wick incredibly well, and never stay on the shelf at home long as they're always in my pack or on my legs!!
They work great during the winter under shell pants for snowshoeing/climbing, and in the summer they're great for early mornings or late nights where it gets a bit chilly up high -- I would reccommend these to anyone looking for a base layer for their legs that isn't too warm/bulky but will keep you plenty warm when you want them too...

Customer Service

No personal experience (I have a ton of Patagonia, just never needed the CS...), I've heard only great things though

Old school white longies (cotton, past their prime now), Patagonia R1 pants -- these are nice too, a little beefier but still wick like mad...

I love these pants! I wore them on the crapiest day on Mount Baldy. Only them under my Integral Designs bibs(I also recommend them). I was worm all day, even in below freezing temps. And for around $40...you just can't beat that. THEY HELD UP GREAT!
