This is one of the best jackets I've ever owned. It is warm in the cold, breathable in the warmer weather, and just about the most useful piece of equipment in my outdoor wardrobe. I've worn it as an outer shell in very cold snow and it kept me warm. If you can get one of these, do it!

I've been very impressed with this jacket for the month that I've owned it. With a decent long underwear top and maybe an additional shirt, you can stay warm in this jacket into the high 30's (when not moving). I does beath better than the Classic Windstoppper used in my old Sierra Designs jacket. I really like the athletic cut. I have yet to get wet in this jacket when raining -it is extremely water resistant, although I would not trust it in a downpour. I like this better than Windstopper because of it's strecthy-feel and non-piling exterior. I think it might be more durable as well. Like many reviewers have already stated; because this jacket is so well tailored, it can be worn for many different occassions. Overall, I like the Powershield and the exactness in the design by Arcteryx (they arguably make the best outdoor gear -of course, at a price :)

I bought this jacket and then was so pleased with it that I decided to buy another one for my wife. The powershield is amazing, a real alternative to gore tex in any conditions apart from continuous downpoor. This jacket can be used in incredible number of occasions: for backpacking, for travelling, around town when it's cold and it might rain, as part as a layering system. It is tough enough for most usage apart from continuous rock climbing. The fit is very good and it looks good enough to be taken to the office on fridays. Only criticism is that it is not warm enough for static conditions; though I guess this is not what this jacket is intended for.

    Customer Service

Dreadfull. I bought a jacket for my wife in the wrong size and try to exchange : their answer was NO WAY: go back to the shop that sold it to you: I explain that I bought the jacket while on a business trip in Japan and that I was not planning to go back there and they still would not exchange.

Awsome Jacket. I wear this in cold weather over my North Face Summit Series because its so light and yet super warm. Also, I've never seen a jacket that can repel rain the way this one does. Worth every penny!

I had fondled this jacket in various stores wistfully, but could not bring myself to shell out the $240. When it came up at Altrec two years ago for half price, I snapped it up. Two years later, I think full price doesn't seem so high any more. Backpacking, hiking, around town; over a light shirt, or using the SV as a mid-layer (Ibex Norse Shirt as base, Arc'teryx Theta AR as outter)while snowshoeing, this jacket performs as no other I've ever owned. Already an Arc'teryx lover, the SV drives home just why this company garners the praise it has: this jacket outright revolutionized this genre, even though--perhaps because--it doesn't fit into any one category.

    Customer Service

Dealing with Arc'teryx pre-buyout was to deal with highly responsive people, ready to help. Post-buyout, I don't know.

All I have to say is... Holy $h!t ! This is THE jacket to have. The workmanship is outstanding, the fabric is out of this world, and the comfort is beyod excellent! It was spendy, but what other "fleece" jacket can block wind, repel water, and breath like this one can? None. The outer fabric is kind of a rough stretchy rubbery material. If that gives you any idea.

Buy it! You won't regret it.
