Great Jacket! Warm and windproof. Very good attention to details, e.g., zipper pulls and storm flap are well designed so as not to bind in use.

Customer Service

Never had to call on Patagonia customer service.

I have now had my retro X for over 7 years and it is stil in great shape. This is a very warm, wind proof coat that ?xD;?xA;I have used in a variety of canoe and wilderness trip situations. It is may basic coat on cooler trips and has not let me down.?xD;?xA;I highly recommend this jacket for its quality and have bought ones for my wife and 2 daughters. They agree on its effectiveness.?xD;?xA;The only downside is bulk. These jackets are a bit bulkier than some of Patagonia''''s new R coats. However, I Trust my retro X and ?xD;?xA;it also looks really cool. Jerry

Absolutely superb. The jacket is very warm, though not quite as warm as their advertising says. It has stood up to daily use very well and has few faults, perhaps a higher collar and an elasticated bottom to keep out the wind.

I got the jacket in Las Vegas at about two thirds the price in the UK (nearly $260!!). The jacket is black and my pupils at school kept asking if I had taken it off a sheep as the fleece looks like the sheeps coat.

It has stood up to most weathers very well including heavy fine drizzle which usually penetrates most things.

Customer Service

I do not have any experience as there is no Patagonia setup in the UK (An outlet in Manchester would be great).

Very warm jacket considering its light weight. Yes, it does have a bit of a boxy cut but that makes it great for layering underneath. There is capilene mesh on the inside that makes the jacket easier to get on and also helps wick moisture. The windproof barrier is very effective but makes the jacket feel a bit stiff. Perhaps this will soften in time. The 2 zip pockets on the jacket are very large and will hold quite a bit. A drawcord at the bottom would have been nice but I've not noticed too much wind getting through. Well made jacket. Patagonia makes great stuff but it is very pricey. Get this at one of their outlet stores for $140.00 I would not have bought this for the $199.00 retail price. The 5 star value rating reflects the outlet store price. All the Patagonia stuff I've bought over the years, is still with me. It lasts!

I own a Retro-X made in 1994 and really like the fit and styling. I recently bought a size medium Fall 1999 Retro-X. (I wear a medium in about everything Patagonia makes.) I had to return the jacket because the fit was so poor. The chest fit fine, but the waist area fit like a large skirt! I can't understand why Patagonia would make a windproof jacket, but make the fit so loose that it lets massive amounts of wind through the bottom! The hem does not have a drawcord, so there is no way to tailor the fit.

I am a rabid Patagonia fan, but they really dropped the ball on this one. Perhaps they are targeting this jacket toward the urban / casual crowd rather than the true outdoor users??

I love this jacket. It is warm and completely windproof. I use it on cold weather (20 degree) bike commutes all the time and it works great. For colder weather layer it under a shell and you are set. My only complaint is that the fit could be a little snugger - the cut is a little boxy. A great jacket overall.
