Good traction but a few drawbacks I found with these. Too heavy for backpacking, especially if you'll not be wearing them the whole time. Also, the harness kept coming loose, and when tightened decided to give me a blister.

Got these this winter as I'm sick of dealing with the skiing crowds and crazy lift ticket prices. For the price of a lift ticket and a beer and nachos at Killington I got a pair of these. They held up great after numerous hikes and treks across Winnepesaukee snow. They came in handy for ice fishing trips as well. I was surprised at how well they felt on my feet, very light. These are a great alternative to the usual winter sport fare.

I got my Peak 25 for a great price, but it's still worth every penny at the average ""street"" price. It's very stable up and down hills, floats well, and easily sheds sticky or wet snow. The big news is the bindings. They were very easy to adjust, although it took a minute to figure out how to use them. After that, I can put on or take off the snowshoes very quickly. It's ideal for skiing/boarding or hiking over varying snow and hardpack terrain. Would have given 4 stars, but the binding system at this price range really makes this shoe.
