Rottefella TRP 100 Telemark Release Plate Telemark Bindings

Rottefella TRP 100 Telemark Release Plate Telemark Bindings

DESCRIPTION

This release plate for telemark bindings helps reduce the risk of injury to the lower leg and knee by releasing your binding under undue pressure. Adjustment is made according to DIN standard as in alpine ski bindings; approved by TUV Product Service in Germany. Heat treated steel and aluminum construction is durable and reliable yet lightweight and elegant. Unique construction does not affect the flex of your ski; lifts the binding 14mm. I have two sets of release plates that are available for sale. I've used release plates for 8 years. They have always released when I've needed them to, and on one occasion saved me from a broken hip. They are easy to maintain (a little bicycle grease once a year is all that is needed). I simply will not ski today's heavier skis without some form of release.

I have owned two pairs of TRP 100 releasable binding plates, attached to my Rottefella R8 bindings. Although I have not skied (or schlepped) hard enough on them to release, I feel a hell of a lot better knowing that the option is there. They are heavy, but I use them primarily for lift-service, with a little bit of climbing over for new powder, so the weight is not a problem. Personally, a few extra ounces is worth 6 months of rehab from an ACL injury (of course, there is no definitive proof that a tele releasable binding prevents an ACL injury, but it works for me.)

I am a strong expert Telemark skier, the trp 100 keeps me in the ski till i need to release. This part of the binding is the best i have ever used. The binding is a bit heavy but the alternative is bad to say the the best. the huge negative is that I break 3 to 4 plates a year. So far this year (8) times skiing I have broken 3 plates to date. I have purchased 6 bindings in the past 3 years I have one skiable set left. This is bad, I don't know where to get replacement plates.
