Skier

Must admit I bought the Karhu kodiak because I live in Kodiak, and thought it'd be cool to ski a ski named after where I live. That said I do not regret my decision. No lifts in Kodiak so all my skiing is 'backcountry' and Kodiak has very variable conditions. The Karhu handles all variable conditions very well. Floats well in crud, handles ice, and turns quick in breakable crust. I must admit I did use them at a ski area over New Years and was dissapointed with how they handled the speed on groomed runs - tended to flop around at speed. But really that is not what they were built for - they rule the backcountry. Must say they are much better than my old Miras in the deep powder (but the Miras better on the groomed and ice). A very good all mountain ski, and the wood core should prove durable. Mine are 176cm - I think the lenght makes a big difference. With their width in the tips, I do not think you need a long ski with the Kodiak. Excellent all mountain ski.
