Picked this little gem at the end of the season 2 yrs ago. It has saved my bacon at least 2 times. Riding throught the trees a huge Oz like tree hit me so hard that I broke the 2" branch and left a silver dollar sized dent in my helmet. If I hadn't had on a helmet they would have found me in the spring thaw.

This helmet is comfy and warm, with vent plugs to can adjust the amount of air you want to your noggin.

Super light weight. Warm with all the liners in, cool with them out. Stays on perfectly even without the chin strap. Extra protection for back of head when used for biking/climbing/riding

I bought my Giro Nine 9 because it was the only way my wife would let me tree ski anymore. I find it is a superb multi-sport helmet. I wear it biking everyday on my 12 mile commute. I wear it rock climbing and horseback riding with our 4H project kids.

While the ventilation system is great, it would be nice to have a different method of removing vent plugs. They could be lost easily.

Awesome helmet! I was skeptical of wearing a helmet at all, but the Giro 9 is so comfortable and light weight that I wouldn't dream of boarding without it. I've taken a couple of nasty falls since wearing this helmet and I've felt completely protected each time. This helmet has seriously made a TON of difference in raising my confidence level.

Lightweight, comfortable, warm in the cold, cool in the warm. Found it on sale.

Risk of losing vent plugs when they're removed. Finding goggles that fit with both the helmet and my smaller face size was tricky. Scott carrera's worked out fair, but I guess that's a different review...

Started seriously skiing only this season, with some advanced/very aggressive skiiers who have challenged me on some rough terrain for my level of skiing. This helmet has given me an added sense of security and has protected me well on what could have been some very nasty falls. The helmet is more comfortable than a ski hat, the goggle clip works very well, and the ear flaps help in the bitter cold. The venting works great for wamer weather skiing. I don't think I'd even consider a different helmet. I also like the lower profile look- this helmet dosen't look like a bowling ball on my head!

Style, visor, fit, and ventilation.

Worried about losing ventilation covers.

I bought the Nine MX model with the visor and have only used it for one day with mixed weather conditions. My initial impressions are extremely favorable. I had never free-skied with a helmet before and hardly knew that I was wearing one. My head is more oval in shape and I had a hard time finding any other helmet that fit properly. After having tried all of the major brands, this was the most comfortable fit. My preference is to dress minimally and I prefer only to wear a hat when absolutely necessary, but I can tell you now that I will always wear this helmet. I pulled the vent covers out first thing and went straight onto the hill and was completely comfortable. The temperatures ranged from high teens to low thirties with a mix of sun and clouds and I was fine with the vents open. I worry a little bit about losing the vent covers, but frankly I think I will rarely use them except in the coldest conditions. If you have the option, pick up the model with the visor. It makes a big difference when the sun is out. I worried a little about added wind resistence and noise at speed, but I can tell you that even at high speed, it is not perceptible.

Tried on almost all brands. Bought a K2 and took it back promptly (thank goodness).

Inside cushioning gets easily cleaned. The ventilation works very well. Normally I'm very warm during sporting. I was afraid my head would melt, but this wasn't the case at all! Beautiful name.

Perhaps the ear-pads aren't optimal, but it doesn't matter really to me.

Superb! Very nice design and fit. Also very lightweight. (Price: 125 euro)

I didn't think of buying a helmet until I saw two guys get seriouly injured in their heads in one day....then I started my extensive search of helmets...tried dozens of helmets, most of them either too hot or doesn't fit my head....until I tried Giro Nine.... I know it is my helmet when i tried it...fits sooo well and very comfortable..and it has huge vents where the padds can be taken out when it gets warm...I only realized how valuable this function is until i wear them and skiied intensively yesterday.... It was a warm day, so I took the vent pads out so it won't get hot....and I wear it for the whole day. Most of the time I didn't realize I was wearing the helmet...the only time I am thinking about the helmet is when I am going to ski in double black...cos wearing a helmet gave me a lot of confidence

The ear flaps are held in by 3 tiny plastic snaps. Be careful not to snug up lid by grabbing ear flaps, they''''ll come right off. If it wasn''''t for this stupid idea, this helmet would be killer!

Coaching a kids ski team means I stand around for hours on end. I was looking for a helmet that was comfortable all day long. My Leedom, although it fits well, gives me a headache after a few hours. The Giro is absolutely sweet, I sometimes forget I have it on!

Very light, venting kicks-a$$. Cool bikie tech features like vents, strap adjustment, and new visor. Rear goggle strap actually works with goggles that have buckles, unlike Leedoms and Brikos.

Ear flaps and back padding pieces are held on with tiny plastic pins, not too durable and can get dislodged easily. Hopefully they fix this with better glue or velcro. Giro needs to improve on their build quality - mine had imperfections on the outer shell molding.

Giro hit the mark by combining their bike helmet technology with their snow products. An unbelievably light helmet with great adjustable vents. The Nine.9 and the new Nine.9MX gives you no more excuses for not wearing a helmet.
