This backpack...good if your snowmobiling. without your snowboard. This is for carrying your board up. not particularly skiing. ive looked at the pictures and how you can use it my board fits poorly vertically and my bindings wont even go through the horizontal way but then when i went to put a pair of my skis on it fit just fine. i hate skiing snowboarding is my life. this is not my kind of backpack.

Strength:

lots of straps, good for tying things down. The hydration compatability is great.

Weakness:

The only thing is the lack of pocket access when the strap is snapped in the center.

Great backpack! I can do tricks, spins, flips, etc. with it on and it doesn't move when i have the straps tightened. The waist strap is very helpful. and i like the looks, you can use it for snowboarding, hiking, biking, etc.

Strength:

has lots of straps, buckles, etc. for straping your shovel, probe, etc. to. also, it's very light.

Weakness:

too small for backcountry use! I found it hard to find a place for extra layers of clothing I would need after hiking! also, the straps overlap the zipper on the side, making it very difficult to open this pack while your board or snowshoes are strapped on! and there isn't enough support in the frame of the pack to properly bear the weight of a board plus backcountry gear!

over all, this pack is ok for small part-day excursions, but i wouldn't recomend this one for backcountry travel.

Strength:

Plenty of attachment points, ski/board carry system, low profile design, quality of materials.

Weakness:

The top strap on the ski carry system sometimes works loose.

If you need a daypack for Skiing or Snowboarding you just can't go past the Helipro from Dakine. I have the small size and it suits me prefectly. The pack is compatible with most hydation systems and has plenty of attachment points for equipment. The shovel pouch easily fits the blade of my black diamond shovel. There are two side attachments for ice axes, shovel handles and the like. There are two options for carrying boards, accross the back and vertically as well as the ability to carry skis diagonaly. There are plenty of compression straps as well. The pack fits really well and I hardly notice it when I am skiing. The waist belt and sternum strap make sure it stays put. Simply the best skiing pack I have ever used.

Strength:

Great design on the straps, never gets loose yet allows full movement. Shovel pocket fits my LifeLink perfectly. Stays relatively dry, handy lined key pocket.

Weakness:

Diagonal ski carrying straps - the top one''''''''s a little flimsy and tough to attach. Hole for drink tube too small for winter insulated bite valves.

For a low-volume daypack the DaKine rocks. Low profile for wind cheating shape. Rugged construction, board and ski straps for hands free hiking. Bladder pocket to keep wet separate from dry.
