I bought my first board with the Ride LS bindings at a sporting resale shop. The bindings would not stay in place, and it wasn't that the base plate screws came loose. Even with the base plate securely screwed down, the bindings would slip from the 15 degree (lead foot) zero degree (trail foot) settings. When I first started learning this was okay, since it probably kept me from breaking a bone, but once I started gaining skill it caused me loss of control and confidence. Since I seem to be the only one who has this problem it may be a fluke' maybe the previous owner ruined them. The teeth of the base plates do look worn as if they're partially stripped. I have not had any complaints with the ratchet mechanisms, which seems to be the biggest complaint I've read. I'd keep them if the base plates were not stripped.

i have had these bindings for about 4 years and the only bad part about them is it slips on tightening the strap but that is the only hard part about these

Strength:

Padding... very luxurious

Weakness:

rachet mechanism... RIDE REALLY needs to improve them. Second weakness.. PRICE, I wouldn't complain so much if I paid $50 instead of $90.

Overall, everything was okay EXCEPT for the rachet mechanism. It kept getting worse everytime I use them. It was fairly difficult to strap in as the rachet would slip as you tighten. If you're not careful enough, you may actually break the racket lever spring. I actually met a kid who broke his. When that happens, the rachet lever will not come back to its initial position, but you can still strap in.

Strength:

Good value Solid construction Ratchets (seem to be) sturdy

Weakness:

Through-bolt design with no protector shredded up my boots. After going back to the store I noticed that not a single other brand had this design flaw.

I returned them

Strength:

cheap, good for begginers

Weakness:

as explained above

To put it in one word, disappointed. For the first couple of times i used them they were fine but after that i have had numerous problems with the rachet mechanism. The straps wear far too easily and are basically a pain in the ass

Strength:

- Cheap - Good binding other than the strap problems - Simple design and colors

Weakness:

- Can't get them off! - Padding isn't too great either, but they're pretty cheap so you pay for what you get.

At first I thought these bindings were okay for entry-level bindings. Then as the cold weather began to set in more, I had HUGE problems getting out of these bindings. The ratchet would become stuck, especially when you pull your bindings really tight over your foot. I would have to sit down at the bottom of the hill and tug and hit at them to get them off! They're not so bad when the weather is warmer, but I had so many problems getting out of the bindings - it drove me nuts! I wasn't the only one to have this happen to. My friend had the exact same bindings and the exact same problem - only hers were even worse than mine! I know someone with these same bindings only 2003 and she hasn't had any problems yet, so perhaps it was a flaw in the 2002 bindings. Either way, I got myself some new Burton bindings for Christmas!

Strength:

aluminum baseplate, aluminum ratchet buckles, easy positioning highback

Weakness:

straps

the first time out they were ok, but then after that the straps would get loose and the bolts would unscrew and come out. my 2nd time the strap fell off so i put it back on with a longer bolt, and just recently it fell off and now i lost it

Strength:

The on-the-fly highback adjustment is an awesome addition. If you ever need to be more aggressive just sit your ass down and set it then keep on riding with style. Second, God those !@#$ padded !@#$ straps are the best invention ever. Gives your foot a solid hold and they''re damn comfortable. Never going back to ones without them.

Weakness:

Ratchets are tougher to release then burtons.

These are sweet bindings for the entry to intermediate. I go off kickers and 10 footers and they hold tough.
