Ride Preston EX Conventional

Ride Preston EX Conventional

DESCRIPTION

Setting the standard once again, these bindings are the perfect blend of lightweight performance and technical features. Bindings are contoured and profiled for lightweight precision; feature quick-adjust heelcup design for micro-adjustments in seconds. Newly designed aluminum mini-zip Grip Pod ankle ratchet and micro-zip toe ratchet make it easier to secure your boots in the bindings. Pre-curved, quick-adjust ankle and toe straps require no trimming--just slide them into place, screw them in and go. Highbacks feature taller, stiffer Rebound Rods for a quicker return to stance-correct doubleback position, putting you back in the driver's seat. Cored, anatomically-designed aluminum baseplates and stance-correct doublebacks offer lightweight comfort and control. Toe ramp increases your toe-side turning power and minimizes toe-drag; shock pad adds extra shock-absorption. Dual-density ankle pad cushions your instep while providing support. New Response multi-pattern disc fits both 3- and 4-hole patterns.

Strength:

look nice, easy to put on

Weakness:

weak screws

These are nice bindings, but the screws are always coming loose! I have to tighten them 3-4 times a day, or else they detach from the board.

Strength:

Comfortable and responsive. Easy to adjust for a good fit.

Weakness:

The screws on these bindings are constantly coming loose. Twice my heel strap has come off. The latches occationally come loose while riding. These bindings have real safety issues!! For all those that don't want to break their arms or legs, buy a different binding.

I would not recommend this binding for anyone who rides frequently. The binding is comfortable and responsive, but it is not built to last. It has real safety issues.

Strength:

the straps are great, real plush with all the support you need, and you don't have to break them in. stiff backs, and very adjustable.

Weakness:

buckles don't realse easly some times. if you have the cash, i suggest hitting up a pair with the new powerdrive ratchets.

this is actually a review for the 02-03 ride ex bindings. bouth them for my rail board, and i ended up liking them better than my salomon spx 6. since i have sold the salomon and ride these full time.

Strength:

metal base

Weakness:

low base plate, low quality straps, plastic ratchets that braek easily, screws that always come loose. Get technines.

these bindings are decent. the metal bases are a little more sturdier than the conventional plastic. The base plate is really low and it doesn't work well on forum boards

Strength:

Very solid and firm response with no give whatsoever. Your movements transfer to the board immediately. These have the best ankle straps ever made!!! I believe that the ankle strap is basically the same on the LX, EX, and Team models. Lots of adjustments are possible with these bindings.

Weakness:

The metal base makes them slightly heavier than some crappy plastic bindings. This is more than made up for in the rock solid response that the metal base gives.

The Ride EX, as far as I can tell, is a great binding. As other reviewers mentioned, they have many possible adjustments. The main reason I purchased the bindings(besides the year-end sale price), was that Ride/Preston seem to the best designed ankle straps in the business. They have more padding than any other model, I looked at, and they have a more ergonomic contoured shape. The reason I choose the EX over the LX was the better toe-ramp. After riding with them 1 time, I can tell that I already love them. The control and response is rock solid. They are EXTREMELY COMFORTABLE!! They also have excellent ratchets; quick in and out. Only time will tell how they rate in the quality dept.

solid feel, quick respose

Weakness:

nothing worth writing

other than burton customs i have no binding to compare these to. i do feel confidant riding with them but some small problems will lead me to try a new pair next year. the screw on the toe strap has striped and need to be tightened before every run. the ratchets also seem to loosen every so often. overall a great product worth the money

Strength:

Seems very sturdy so far (just check screws before riding - as the manual tells you to). Ratchet pieces nice to work with. Nice color - dark blue. Plenty of padding. Stiff highback.

Weakness:

None so far.

My first Strap in binding. I checked out this, the Gnu G3, and the Drake (black and yellow similar price-dont remember the name). Picked the ride cause it fit my boot (airwalk sonar) best and looked sturdy. Rode one day and thought it worked great. I dont know how people lose screws if they check them before riding. I did and yes some were loose. Not to the point of falling out though. Adjusted the heelcup mid day easily with a good tool. I gave it a 4 cause Ive only used it one day. I liked the ratchet shape for more than the Gnu or the Drake. Easy to get your thumb on it. One strap got a little chewed but not badly and I think it was me just getting used to straps (how tight to make them, etc). The mechanism seems the same on many other similar bindings so I think it could happen to others.

Gnu G3 and Drake (similar priced model) were compared in store working them and fitting them with my boots but not USED.

Not very happy at all with the ratchet system, but the base is solid. Combination of metal ratchets and plastic straps (with cold weather) just isn''t good. The straps got chewed up on the first day. 1 Week old and screws fell out 3 three times. Just a poor quality for the price. 3/5
