Strength:

The most important attributes of any boot, these were warm and comfortable on my feet all day. I couldn''t ask for a better boot for my feet.

Weakness:

Liner laces are free/loose at the top; my wife''s Salomons have a nice leather tab at the top for pulling the liner lace tight, and then a little "pocket" on the boot tongue for tucking away the lace tab. A nice touch. With my Rides, it''s pull the laces, push down the lace lock, and then just jam the loose lace ends down in the boot.

The first boots I have purchased. REI had a good end-of-season sale, so I tried on 5 or 6 pairs of boots that they had in my size (Ride, Salomon). The Ride Matrix had a better liner, better fit, and more stiffness than the Ride Orion, which felt a bit loose and sloppy to me. The Salomons that I tried all felt nice, but with the Ride Matrix on one foot and the Salomons on the other the Ride just felt more comfortable on my foot. The boots felt great on the mountain, my feet stayed warm, no heel lift, and my feet were comfortable all day, no squeezing or pinching. The boots seem to have a somewhat large outer boot for their size, so pay attention when matching to bindings and board. Make sure the boot fits well into the heelcup of the binding, and pay attention to board width -- you may have to go to a wider board at a smaller boot size that you would with other brands of boot. For example, my size 9.5 boots, a pretty average size, seem to be a perfect fit for my Option FreePlus 163, which is a slightly wider than average board (Option suggests size 8.5 - 11 boots for this board width, I think the Matrix boot in an 11 would be huge on this board). Can''t make any claims for durability yet, I''ve only had them out a few times, but so far no problems.
