This is the future of clothing. Why
can't all of my clothes feel this
good. I kid you not, I may ask to be
buried in these underwear! Wicks great,
feels great and oh so warm. I just wish they weren't $38.00 a piece, but again,
you get what you pay for.

I've used Patagonia undershirts for about 11 years. The old midweight was too slick on the inside for my taste. Felt cold agaist the skin. They've fixed that with the new midweight which is soft on the inside yet slick on the outside so your layers don't bunch. The neck on the crewneck size medium is on the small side as are the shoulders. The shoulder seams are also a bit more itchy than my REI midweight, but the Patagonia seems more resistant to picking up odors. Next time I'll do the Patagonia midweight zip neck or tortoise to eiminate the adams apple chafe.

This is a truely great piece of cloathing. Like everyone else has said it wicks moisture holds up well in the wash, looks great, and is very comfy. I find myself wearing it out around town so much I will probably get antoher. It may seem expensive but this is one of those things where paying more means gitting more.

Customer Service

No personnal experience but tere customer service is praised highly in outdoor circles (you know the secret club with the secret handshake)

My purchase was greatly influenced by what I had read on this site. I bought one for both my wife and myself and these shirts are totally awesome. We slept in them on a cool night and were totally comfortable and just left them on to hike out in 70 degree weather. Probably a little warm for that but amazing wicking abilities. Totally worth every penny even at retail. We were lucky enough to score ours at 40% off but don't hold your breath. It took about 3 months to find a deal!

When I first bought this, I was a bit taken back by the price. $38 for an undershirt? I questioned my purchase then, but I am glad that I gave into temptation because this shirt is great. It is well worth the price. Patagonia has created one helluva good undershirt here. It wicks wonderfully and is very durable and warm. I wouldn't give this up for anything.

A classic shirt. I've worn mine around 5 years now with no complaints except how quickly the body odor seems
to accumulate. That's a minor concern though. The shirt's very comfortable, wicks well after many washes, and
has remained durable--it goes on every trip, year-round. Also, the length is generous for tall folk. One side note: I'd probably get the Zip-T if I
bought another.

this stuff is great; I have had mine for years, and it doesn't seem to wear out at all, never is clammy when I sweat, and dries quickly. The fit is just right. If I were buying this now, I would think about getting the zip T instead of the crew neck just because of the ability to ventilate better, but there is nothing better than capiline, and the quality of construction from Patagonia can't be beat. The durability offsets the high initial cost, but try the patagonai outlet stores- they will take phone orders.

I used the top and bottom midweights on a NOLS course this past summer for 75 days in Alaska. We went sea kayaking, backpacking, and mountaineering over this time and I am convinced that my capilenes are absolutely bombproof. I only took them off when we were in town between sections to wash them. One of my instructors for the mountaineering course had the same pair as I do with a couple of patches on them but he said that he has had them for over ten years. Although the price almost drew me away from buying them ($80 for top and bottom), they can last forever if you take care of them.

I have used the Mountain Hardware ZeO2's which claim to help prevent your body odors from stinking them up. Don't take this claim too seriously because it didn't work for me. If your out in the boonies long enough, theres not much you can do to prevent from smelling.

All I can say is that this is the best on the market, you can't beat the performance of capilene. The midweight is very versatile and fits the conditions I need it for, and if I ever need expedition weight or silk weight or another pair, I will buy patagonia capilene right away, you just can't beat it. It may be expensive, but it is worth it.
