I am very pleased with my 2 Poacher Pile Jackets. I received many complements & they are my favourite jackets to wear. There is only one way to improve this jacket & that is to make the colar the same inside as the outside. I like the length, as this isone of the reasons why I like to wear it so much. I saw higher priced fleece jackets, but this is the pick of the bunch. They are extremley warm, without the weight. I like the style so much that I would consider another color.

Since Valhalla Pure Outfitters, closed recently there is no store in Nova Scotia (to my knowledge) that sells Marmet products. I would hav probably bought another color, if they wouldn''t have closed

Excellent jacket! Very warm, wicks well, breathes well. Stylish enough to wear around town and stays dry inside in a light rain without a shell. Abbsorbs the smokey smell from campfires like any fleece. I wear this everywhere! Zips into my Marmot Alpinist shell, which is one of the main reasons I bought it.

I like this jacket very much. The Glen Pile is very warm and tranports moisture away from the body more than adequately. There are however, a number of design flaws that could turn this very good jacket into an exceptional one if corrected!
Firstly, the cut is just too short (below the waist) to be efficient on a hike or climb with a backpack. Chances are, due to its short length, that it will bunch up under the torso pillow at the bottom of most larger rucksacks. This is most uncomfortable as I have come to find out through personal experience. It can leave kidneys exposed to cold and wind which can wear even the best climber down if this condition persists over any period of time.
Secondly, the pilling from the pile into the mesh on the inside of the jacket is not only unsightly, but can eventually rob you of the warmth you so richly paid for. These polyester clumps can also only be removed by hand through very fastidious hand or tweezer work.
Finally, pit zips would not be a bad idea for those days when you decide you need extra warmth without the waterproof layer of a Gore-Tex shell. The tunnel collar could be an inch or so longer to insure that the neck is completely covered.

Indispensible is the zipper that fits nicely into any Marmot shell. The only drawback here however is the zipper itself should be what's called a number II "YKK" fully reversible and larger as to allow an easier time getting this external zipper to work as an internal one ( running up and down the length on the inside of the fleece jacket) when coupled with your Marmot shell.

All in all I would give it 3 and1/2 stars out of five because it comes with a lifetime guarantee and the the Marmot flare for robust materials and expert workmanship.
