I have never own a fleece vest in the past but this one gives me complete satisfaction. Check the reviews of the R2 jackets to get an idea of what the vest can do for you. Basically this jacket is very packable (i take it with me on every trips up or down the mountains) warm, confortable and what''s is more it looks good and you do not like a nerd wearing it... Last time I used the vest was sking in Japan in -5C condition. I was wearing the vest above a R1 Flash pullover (great combination) and under a mountain Hardware shell: I was very toasty and had to open the pit zip after about 30 minutes.
