Burton BMC Freeride

Burton BMC Freeride

DESCRIPTION

Built around a Dragonfly core, the BMC features the most technology we could pack into one board. Easy transition from edge to edge combined with an overall High Drive rating make it the only high-tech, high-speed choice. Add a pair of C14’s and take on the world. Sintered Indium Base: High-tech speed on all types of snow. Carbon I-Beam: Lots of snap; stop using cheater jumps to get on handrails. Dual Warp Lite Triax: Ultra-light, responsive, and torsionally solid. Dragonfly Core: The lightest core available. Multizone EGD: Solid edge hold and board feel. Stainless Steel Edge: Stays sharp longer. Graphic Tech: Multi-layer printing with matte finish, gut-showing window.

Demoed in Winter Park it took 7 boards to find it but the BMC won out. Ran the gammet of terrain, Powder, Crud hard packed and ice. Rode the steeps, the bumps, the pipe and the jumps. It won hands down on every aspect. It was fast and edgy. I guess Burton listened to the guys from last year and figured out the problem with the top plate because I got ran over by a skiier and it barely left a mark, (and they say the boarders are A**holes) plus the fact it was a demo that had been used I imagine its pretty resiliant. Can''t wait til this weekend to try mine out.

I''m not that experienced a boarder so after buying this in a fit of bravado I wondered whether I had bit off more than I could chew. I got it out to Steamboat for a week and when I first strapped it on it felt like I had been nailed to a piece of concrete. It''s very stiff. Having said that I had no problems handling it after the shock had wore off. This board is FAST. It looks great, it rides great, but it being my first board I don''t have alot to compare it too except rentals. That''s why I give an overall 4.5 rather than a 5.

Customer Service

Not had to deal with Burton yet. Evolve were helpful as ever, but you would be for that kind of cash wouldn''t you ?

Great board, very stable at high speeds, holds an edge in any condition, turns smooth. Has a tendency to get jumpy though when you slide it out. Had last years model and it delaminated after only 7 rides. Got this years as a replacement from burton, well see how it holds up.
