Illuminati Pentagon Freeride

Illuminati Pentagon Freeride

DESCRIPTION

Dual progressive sidecut for the freestyle/ freeride. This board rules in the park/pipe but has a great nose for true mountain riding and powder. This line has full contact length Carbon -UNI for extra pop going forward or fakie. * This year's graphic is an arial photo of the Pentagon Defense building in Washington, sublimated into a High Gloss black topsheet...DOPE!

Strength:

I've ridden a lot of boards in my day. This one's strong everywhere. Service is awesome, too.

Weakness:

A chunk of my base was missing after opening day at Steamboat last year. Maybe it was too early to be riding the trees...

Jesus. This board is somethin else. I lived in Steamboat in the winter of ILL's first season and a friend of mine got a couple of their boards cheap or free. I'm 5'6" 135 and I thought it would be fun to try his brand new ILL 163 for a day. I did, I came home, and told him to get me one a little smaller. I ended up with the 159 and immediately stopped riding my cracked M3 and rode my new ILL 159 for the rest of that season, the next season, and the season after that. Well over 200 happy days later, the board is getting a little soft so I just bought a new ILL. Spread the word. The Illuminati.

Strength:

stiff predictable reliable *fast* turns very sharp and quick **cheap**

Weakness:

couldnt keep me from busting my wrist... [ for reals: no weaknesses in the board that I found in my 2 days at high with it... ]

I bought this board having high expectations about every aspect of boarding (freeride): acceleration, turn response, transition response, high speed stability, low speed manuverability. This thing met every one of them and surpassed a few. this thing accelerates "unrealistically" fast, and it turns so predictably it raises your confidence out there (making me break my arm at mt high =/). if I ever lost my edge while in a turn, no matter how fast or hard, it was my own fault not some random dumbness of the board itself (like my old k2 spitfire). I rode it on hard packed snow on nicely groomed trails, some slush and some ice and it handled very responsive and predictable in all those conditions. so help make the ILL team make cash and buy a board cuz they deserve it, and you *probably* deserve such a crazy board.

Strength:

Quick edge to edge. Snappy. Stable at speed. Easy to ride. All mountain Krusher...

Weakness:

I had to pay for it... I can usually get boards for free.

I got turned on to the Illuminati by Nic Drago and Keenan Rice during a photo shoot. I broke my Burton and needed a board to ride. The ill was epic as sonn as I laid into my first turn. It felt like an extension of my body.

While researching the endless sea of snowboard information on the Web, I came across an internet based snowboard company called Illuminati, A New World Order. After demoing practically every snowboard on earth for three straight seasons and reading enough reviews worthy of a small library, buying directly online would have seemed irrational. Thank god for Irrationality. I currently ride Illuminati’s 2002 Pentagon 163 (All Mountain) Series. I could not be happier. The adaptability of this board is its strongest suit. On demand, this board will carve through trees if you ask it to (though snow is safer) and float on powder with the precision of a hover-craft. The board has great flex and snap allowing for very efficient tactile feel between snow and board. If its speed you desire, the Pentagon All Mountain is still stiff enough to get you down at Warp speeds without board flutter like some boards I have demoed. The board that closely competed with the Pentagon was the NeverSummer T5. However, when you consider the quality and value of the Pentagon, the T5 does not stand a chance. (If you go for Illuminati’s Board+Binding deal then it’s a no-brainer.) The customer service is superb. The board is made in the USA by snowboarders, not in China by some worker that makes plastic dolls in the off season! The graphics kicks some serious booty; a picture of the Pentagon, in red, positioned on a clean, crisp, black backdrop. Another plus, not many people have this board yet. “Hey, where did you buy that board?” is standard issue with the Pentagon. I met my wife because of this board. Ok, now Im lying. Go to ILL23.com and check it out....It''s the Swiss Army Knife of Snowboards

Strength:

Adaptability to varying conditions. Good tactile transfer from snow to board. Graphics. Direct order and personlized service.

Dabbled, tested, rented and searched the Web from end to end examining snowboards. In a hidden remote corner of the virtual world I discovered “A New World Order”. I discovered “The Illuminati”, the perfect new world snowboard. I’m 6’2, 185 pounds and ride their “163 All Mountain 2002 Pentagon”. After testing practically every board on the planet, I purchased this board directly online from Illuminati; satisfied is an understatement. Foremost; the varying adaptability of this board is terrific. When called upon, the Pentagon will carve through trees (even though I would recommend snow!!). If its powder you like, this board floats like a hover-craft (unfortunately this year in Vermont, powdery conditions lasted 20 minutes, but I caught 10 of them!!!!) The closest board I found to equal the Pentagon was the Never-Summer T5. The only problem I found with the T5 is its practically impossible to find, and when compared to the ‘Board-Binding package’ Illuminati offers, the choice was easy. Another note, this has no riding implications, but the color and graphic scheme on the Pentagon kick some serious arse (its great for vain people like me). Relatively new as a snowboard company, the Illuminati Pentagon Snowboard is a rare species on the slopes and I’m frequently asked where I bought the board (of course I lie, I want to be the only one on the mountain with a Pentagon). Another big plus, The Illuminati is pioneering the same business model of Dell and Gateway and applying it to the snowboard industry. There are many advantages to this approach which counter the absences of a “what you feel is what you get” purchase. First, there is the customer service. Ever have anybody say they will call you back in 2 minutes and they do? Illuminati did. The personalized service rivals a discussion with your best friend Bob. (everybody has a friend named Bob…If you don’t get one). Illuminati actually called me back to make certain the Medium T-Shirt I ordered was the right size for me; it was. (Yes, I have a Geek Physique) What other company would do that? None! Also, the removal of middle-men ‘illuminates’ a lot of unnecessary clutter; you’re going right to the source. The quality of this board competes with boards running $150 more. Did I mention this board is made in the USA by boarders, not some minimum-waged worker in China. Its mad

Strength:

Very durable and doesn''t lose its snap like other boards. The nose is sweet for powder. Extremely quick edge to edge. It being very light makes for a lively feel. A great board at an unbelievable price.

Weakness:

kind of a soft flex, so there''s a little chatter at high speeds.

This is a sweet all around board. It has great pop for the park, floats like a dream, and can hold an edge like a knife. This is a rider owned company from Jackson Hole. The boards are made in the U.S., not China like ride, burton, and k2. Support snowboard companies owned by snowboarders!
