DESCRIPTION

It is my opinion that there is a design or manufacturing flaw with the carbon strips or laminations Palmer uses on their boards. I was riding in semi-light powder and the board lost its lamination and the carbon fiber cracked inside. I am not sure what came first, but it ruined the board. I have seen other on-line postings about this issue, so I am not the only one who has had this issue.
That would be OK if Palmer customer service was decent and the company wanted to actually stand behind their snowboards, but the company was not helpful at all.

Customer Service

I explained the issue with the board, and the customer service person said “you must have hit a tree, or had a bad landing”… and I absolutely did not do either – and it was somewhat annoying being accused of that. Also, I had multiple e-mails go unanswered by the company, and they lost the pictures I sent them. It looks like Palmer shut down their US company location. Palmer used to have an office in Colorado – and I previously dealt with Tamarra who was great. My e-mail to Tamarra got re-routed to Switzerland, -- and that appears to be the only place to reach someone at the company. It is my opinion that when Palmer shut down their North American office it resulted in “indifference” to NA customers like me. Unlike Tamarra, the folks in Switzerland did not appear to give a darn about my experience with their products.
• I also wonder if Palmer actually made the board they sold me. The customer service person said that she needed to check with “their producers” about the issue with my board. If they have to pay a third party to replace a board, I believe that it would make it harder for them to make it right with their customers (at least if they were short-sighted) compared to a company that could pull one off the production line. I told them to send me any of their other boards even if it was a past return for cosmetic reasons… no go.
My overall suggestion is that if you are considering buying a snowboard from Palmer, be very hesitant. I would recommend another larger company that has a good track record of standing behind its products. I paid a hefty premium for the Palmer snowboard and I expected a much better outcome -- both from the board, and the company.

I am a begginer, and I must say, I was looking for a low quality second hand board to start out with. I came across this fabulous board for $100! It's incredibly responsive.

Its True , The Palmer Crown 2007 is a good light board, fast and great off piste. But what is the point of all
this if after 2 months of riding the board starts to self destruct?
Disappointment to say the least, after taking time to look for a top board to take to Les Arc France for the season.

After the first month, the back tip started to split which was not due to hitting rocks ,
i repaired this by rebonding the decks together again, this was real hard to do with carbon fibre once out of the mould, but it worked although didnt look too pretty. Now the side wall, where the flouresent green strip is bonded to the top deck, has popped and opened up starting to run a split along the edge of the board..Allowing the moisture to get into the ply, so the problem is just going to get worse. It also chips and marks real easy, being carbon topped.
This board is sold as the board for advanced riders, but theres no way this board could stand up to freeriding in all conditions.
To add insult to injury, try getting hold of Palmer.....
Several e mails no response, retailer says go straight to Palmer as he would have to send the board back to them anyway. I find it difficult to understand how u you can spend £525.00 on a board and have no back up or response when product is faulty.I see now why people buy Burton,at least the back up is there.

This board is my second one and I am very happy with it. First, it's very light and quite responsive. My old board was Ride System and it was too havy and hard to control. I felt a lot better using this board. One problem I found is that after riding it for 3~4 times it acquired more bottom damage than I expected. It lost some bottom coting and I see (very) small gap between metal siding and the board. But no biggy. I believe this is still a very good board for its price.

This board is capable of handling almost any mountainous terrain. I had tried it though double diamond to high speed icy slopes. One exceptio is that it's not really stable though rough bumpy terrain. For the light weight, I think it's worthed even for experience riders.

Strength:

Smooth carving, stable high speed riding, light, poppy, feels solid. Has a very fast sintered-type base that sucks up wax like crazy.

Weakness:

Edges don't bite as hard as I would like them to and the turning radius is not very sharp. Great for you beginners, but not for you guys shreddin on the mountain. If you're looking for a board to shred, upgrade to the Carbon Circle, HoneyPro, etc.

Palmer's make kick ass boards and this is no exception. If you're a beginner/intermediate (more beginner than anything), this board will be perfect for you. In my opinion, it's almost impossible to fall/catch an edge on this sucker. My friends rode it and called it the "Butter board" or the "Cadillac" because it's so damn smooth. Just make sure you get one that's long enough for you cuz the effective edges on this thing are pretty short.

Strength:

The nose and tail have an added insert to serve as a protection from hard impacts, The board was ultra light, and the edge cut so nice!! It was really fast also!!

Weakness:

none

The board is actually a 2003 model, but they didn't have that choice. I just wanted to say that it was an awesome ride witht he classic. I had more confidence when hitting air, everything was smooth, and the ride was incredibly solid.

Strength:

It cuts through the NY snows, and handles well on ice. I haven't taken it out west, but I'm expecting the same preformance from it there!

Weakness:

quick- but not ungodly fast like some other palmer models.

This board is awesome. Definately not for the timid. I found that it really wanted to link turns and helps riders move up from intermediate to more advanced. (of course, it all depends how much you put out there). A great board!

Strength:

I am sure it helped me advance by inspiring confidence. way better than the hire stuff. looks good. after 4 weeks of board net, i nearly beat my skiing pal (of 18 years skiing) down a 8 minute run to get the last lift back up.

Weakness:

I have not tried anything else in a comparable state i.e. new, to be critial.

Very happy with board, it gave me so much more confidence over the dire hire boards of the previous 2 weeks. Most of the riding was on pistes/ scree slopes argh, but i seemed to be able to out grip my friends on the hard pack even after burring the edges! My initial feeling was that it had much better damping than any of the other boards i had tried.
