Voile Swallow Tail Split Decision Split Snowboards

Voile Swallow Tail Split Decision Split Snowboards

DESCRIPTION

Finally, a system that allows snowboarders to keep up with their ski touring brothers and sisters. After years of refinements, the patented Voilé Split Decision system gives snowboarders the easiest, most efficient access to the backcountry available.

The performance of the Split Decision is unrivaled in the backcountry. Climbing is a breeze with the included 120 mm Tractor skins, and the width of the board halves allow you to float on new snow and breakable crust like never before. Four metal edges are what separate the Split Decision from any other form of backcountry snowboard travel, providing a means to traverse slopes efficiently and safely.

What about the descent? The Split Decision's flex pattern is designed for powder conditions, yet stiff enough to excel on any hardpack that you might encounter.

-lightweight one piece cap construction
-2000 sintered base
-serious powder machine

Strength:

Incredible in the deep stuff, skis provide good flotation and traction on the uphill, turns great for a board this size.

Weakness:

Takes some effort on steep, icy shots.

I love this board and highly recommend it to anyone getting into backcountry boarding. I'm 6 foot 4 and 220 pounds and have had problems finding a board to keep me and my gear on top of the powder out here in Utah so this board is the perfect size for me. I think someone much smaller would be just as happy on it if they target mostly powder shots, it is surpisingly agile for its' size. The large skis make life easy on the ascent and the wide skins provide great traction. I use this board with clicker bindings(non high-backs) which work extremely well. I didn't enjoy the feel of strap-in bindings as they seemed to cut off circulation to my feet and the backs were somewhat cumbersome on kick-turns during the ascent. I have talked to some riders who have had good luck with plastic mountaineering boots and the plate adapters from Voile. Either way, this is the funnest deep powder board I have ever ridden and would buy the exact same board again.
