After reading all the glowing reports on the SUB 714, I decided to purchase one, but according to Creek Co., it has been discontinued because they "didn't sell enough of them". Is there some inherent flaw in the 714, or am I too paranoid about purchasing a discontinued item? One would think 5 star reviews would sell boats. Is it a lemon?

Strength:

Very stable, easy to row. I was out on a medium size lake a couple of weeks ago. The wind was gusting to 20 knots, and there were 1 1/2 foot waves. The unit was very stable in all directions, including going sideways to the waves. It was also quite easy to row upwind. It was so good that I am going to try it on the river, without fins of course, even though they say it is not for moving water. Very light weight. Can be carried with one hand.

Weakness:

1. The rubber thingies that are meant to keep the oars from slipping do not stay in place. Easily fixed: Place several wraps of black all-weather electrical tape in the appropriate spot, no more slippage. 2. The hard seat is very comfortable. Easily fixed: use a lifejacket or life-saving cushion on the seat, it is very comfortable. It has the added benefit of making it easier to see over the high back to see behind you.

The best new flyfishing product in several years. Very stable, tracks well. Superior to a small boat in these characteristics. In my opinion, Creek Company didn't just hit a home run with this product, they won the World Series. Apparently, they only made a very limited number. Highest possible recommendation.

Strength:

I like the fact that it has lots of storage compartments. The boat handles very well in the water with the oars or fins. It's light enough to be packed in to any remote lake with little effort.

Weakness:

If there's one weakness it has to be that there is no placee to hold your rod when moving with the oars.

I have tried bellyboats in the past and never felt comfortable fishing in them. The SUB-714 has changed all that. Being able to handle my rod more easily and the open front of the boat has enabled me to land more fish, therfore I would recomend the SUB-714 to anyone as it has definately impressed me.

Strength:

You can carry two rods on either side of the SUB. It is large enough that you can change your lines without fear of dropping your reel or rod in the lake.

Weakness:

The only thing is the back rest comes up high and if you are short you can''t see over the back rest or behind you. You solve this problem by putting less air in the top bladder.

The SUB is very comfortable. It moves thought the water with easy. It is a great tube/pontoon boat at a good price.
