Summary:
These leaders are incredibly strong and have a good taper for turning over big flies and coping with strong winds.

I have used these leaders all year now and can honestly say that they beat every other brand I have tried for reliability and for performance.

Double thumbs up!

Summary:
This is not a knock on Rio or it's entire product line. I've used many of their products with complete satisfaction. In the case of these particular leaders, the shop where they were purchased has dicontinued them from stock, due to the number of similar complaints.

Strengths:
None.......

Weaknesses:
Let me first state that I'm am not usually given to strongly negative reviews, but!
The Knot strength of the 17.6 & 13.2 lb., 7 foot leaders is abysmal. Taking the I.G.F.A. rating into consideration they should break at or below the tested strength....The user can count on these leaders failing well below the rated classification.
My estimate for knot strength would be half of that stated on the package.
I purchased 2 dozen of these leaders, after the first few knot failures, I then offered them to a few students and experienced anglers to see if they could come up with better results, none did.
While its entirely possible that these were just a bad lot of leaders or old stock. That's questionable, because these leaders had been purchased by the fly shop less than a week before.

Similar Products Used:
Climax Striped Bass (Saltwater Series) 6'-10,12 & 15 lb. leaders.....these are far superior to Rio's Striper leader.
