at River and Stream, En Body of Water: 9 Mile Pond, WI Favorite City: ENglewood Favorite State: CO Favorite Country: USA Summary: The Galvan Open Back (OB-4, 4-6 wt)is an absolute dream to fish with! The drag system is extremely smooth, finish is well done (green) and it comliments my St. Croix Legend Ultra 5 wt splendidly. Strengths: Drag, drag knob location and design, finish, lightness, and price. Weaknesses: I expected the reel bag to be more than a black felt bag. My Orvis CFO III Disk Drag came with a paddded leather bag. Customer Service: Haven't used it Galvan's but the customer service at River and Stream, Englewood, CO was fantastic. Similar Products Used: Orvis CFO III Disk Drag.

, from CA Favorite Country: New Zealand Summary: A really great, inexpensive reel that can compete with the Abels and Tibors. The lightweight and smooth drag make this a top choice for me, and my wallet. Strengths: Very lightweight reel....in fact it is so light I was a little skeptical at first as to how it would perform. Well, the reel performed brilliantly against large browns and rainbows in New Zealand and the drag was extremely smooth. After fishing this reel in comparison to my Abels I don't think I'll ever pay the extra $400 for an Abel again! The Galvan doesn't use the cork, but I think the drag was just as smooth, and much lighter. Weaknesses: None Customer Service: Never used it Similar Products Used: Sage 5000, 3000, Abel Super 6
