, from Springfield, MO Body of Water: Secret Favorite City: Branson Favorite State: Missouri Summary: I have used many reels, but the Bauer reels(both the LOHR, and the M-series) have always given me the best performance. Even when I am dry casting in the backyard, I enjoy using the reel. Bauer no longer makes the LOHR, but the M-series is just as good. I highly recommend it! It is the full package: smooth drag, easily accessible drag fly wheel, easy spool exchange, and very light-weight. Bauer reels can be a little pricey, but for the experience fly fisherman, who can appreciate all that the reel has to offer, I feel it is definitely worth the money. If you are a beginner, probably no need to invest so much money in the reel. But still, an outstanding reel overall! Strengths: This reel really has it all: lightweight, excellent drag, and easily accessible drag. Also, Bauer has made it exceptionally easy to change out spools. Weaknesses: No real weaknesses. Customer Service: N/A Similar Products Used: Abel -- not quite as good as the Bauer

50+ days a year Body of Water: Yellowstone Nat'l Park -- Summary: To date, a great reel that has been discontinued but replaced with perhaps the even better MXP and MX series. Can't beat the price for a quality cork drag reel.
Among large arbor reels, I think Bauer has really figured out how to make its reels better and more affordable than the likes of Abel, Waterworks, etc. Additionally, I like the fact that Bauer doesn't have the "snob factor" that you get with Abel reels. Strengths: Worksmanship Finish quality Relative lightness of a LA reel Smoothness of drag Weaknesses: None to date Customer Service: N/A Similar Products Used: None

50+ days a year Body of Water: Secret -- Favorite State: Michigan Summary: In my last review I whined about the 'dainty' drag. Called Bauer and they sent out a neat upgrade kit and now the LOHR is near perfect! These are truely limited editions. Remember when you didn't buy that Shelby Cobra a couple decades ago because it was too expensive? Strengths: Everything(Drag, finish, weight) Weaknesses: Maybe price. Customer Service: Got a chance to try it since last review. Excellent!
