Price Paid:  $20.00 at ebay

Summary:
I needed a very lightweight reel to use on a 6' 3wt outfit. The Graphite construction fit the bill. Also has a smooth disc drag, which is as good as on many higer priced reels. Highly recomended.

Customer Service:
haven't used it

Price Paid:  $50.00

Summary:
The best reel for the money - I had a few cortland reels that kept breaking even though they looked better and were more expensive - this one has held up very well for years and doesn't rust as its made of ??? (I've heard graphite, composite - not really sure what it is)

Strengths:
synthetic material won't rust - light weight - reliable disc drag at a fraction of the cost

Weaknesses:
synthetic material doesn't look as good as machined aluminum etc

Various Cortland/ Orvis reels

Favorite City:
Austin

Summary:
I like the reel. for the money you can't beat it. The Concept 2 had a nice disc drag while the concept 58 has almost no drag to speak of. This reel is very smoothe and light. I am going to get another one to accomodate various lines.

Strengths:
Light, won't corode, powerful disc drag, inexpensive. Can get 2 reals to have a spare spool at this price.

Weaknesses:
the concept 2 and the concept 58 look too much alike but perform diferently. Beware, get the concept 2 if you want a powerful drag.

Similar Products Used:
Okuma- also a good reel, but more expensive.

Reviewed by: John ,  10 days a year , from 80 Blue Ravine Rd

Summary:
Scientific Anglers Concept 2 is the lowest of low-end reels. It performs well enough for its price, but its overall appearance is rather 'cheap' looking. Its made of some type of composit material, so its lightweight, but it looks plastic and cheap. There are other reels out there for a similar price that offer you a much better product for your money. The Okuma reels are about the same price, maybe $10 or $20 more but look and feel 10 times better then the SA concept 2.

Strengths:
Lightweight. Inexpensive. Has a drag.

Weaknesses:
Cheap feel and appearance. Drag adjustment knob is very small.

Okuma, Galvan
