Review Abstract
The Abel Super is “crafted with the finest quality possible” and is a “superior reel for big game and big rods.” Anglers say this reel provides an “excellent drag,” “no fade” and a “first class fit.” “Built like a rock,” it is constructed with a “flawless finish” and has ported holes, which make it “very light.” The Super has a “large arbor” and boasts “easy spool change” and “precise balance” as well. “Strong,” “refined” and “durable,” the Super has also “looks great.” Reviewers agree: the Abel Super “is the only way to go.”

Price Paid:  $425.00 at dallas store

Summary:
abel super 4 reel is built good, and tight
but is to much trouble to chamge spools the cap on the end of the draw bar will come loose so since abel does not dive you a bottle of locktite be sure and buy some and also tools and a magnet to hold the parts when changing spools. a reel in this price range should be near perfect. take care of these problems and you got a great reel.

Customer Service:
called to talk to them about end cap and draw bar. hard to get on refused to send me parts said it might not be covered. when ask about prices to replace they were as the reel HIGH PRICED. the person I talked to said it would not have left the factory that way since I have not used it yet I guess he was calling me a liar.

Summary:
I own a few Abel Supers from the Super 5 to the Super 10, some of which are basic black and others with a custom camo fisnish.

These reels don't just sit around collecting dust, waiting for that one big trip a year. They're out in the salt from three to five days a week, week in week out. These reels take a tremendous amount of abuse and yet still function like the day they were built.

There can only be one "Best" the Abel Supers are just that, the "Best".
If you're serious about your angling and want a reel that will last a life time, not just one that has a lifetime warranty (remember the best warranties are the one that are never used) then go with Abel.

Strengths:
Of all the saltwater reels I own and have field tested, Abels have the toughest finish, they take a lot more abuse than some of the other contenders.
The drag is smooth at all ranges and never sticks, wet or dry.
Extermly low maintenace for a draw bar style reel.

Weaknesses:
Well some would say the price, I don't agree with that philosophy. Buying the best carries a price. Besides, there's nothing smart about buying a cheap knock off and having to replace it later, or loosing a fish of a lifetime, on a trip of a lifetime, becuase the reel you choose couldn't handle the abuse or stress.

Customer Service:
I''''ve never needed to contact the factory for service on my Supers...That''''s the best endorsement of all.
