Price Paid:  $0.00 at Buffalo Outfitters

Body of Water:
Lake Erie and tribs

Favorite City:
Buffalo

Favorite State:
New York

Favorite Country:
USA

Summary:
I started off with an AS 5/6 a couple of years ago and was so impressed by the fit and finish that I bought an AS 7/8 this year for Salmon and Brown Trout. The AS 7/8 drag held up to some big fish.

Strengths:
Price. Looks and an outstanding customer service department.

Weaknesses:
Not made in the USA. The AS 5/6 frame is a little fragile. This past fall I was using this reel on the Salmon River (NY) when I noticed the reel body and spool were rubbing together. A week before this I had dropped the reel in its' case in my driveway. The reel foot was bent but the reel itself seemed fine. Needless to say I was disappointed that a small fall could do this much damage.

Customer Service:
I''m sorry this is going to be a little long but if you have something good to say you should do so. In my opinino this is the strength of the company and why I will have no problem buying their produ

Price Paid:  $135.00 at fly shop

Body of Water:
Housatonic River

Summary:
Disappointing. I bought the 7/8 for salmon, steelhead, and bass.
The first one I had froze up on me after a 3 day trip.
They sent me a new one which worked fine most of the time, but
occasionally went into freespool for no apparant reason when I
had a fish on. If it functioned as intended, it would be a great value,
but as it stands, I won't recommend this reel to anyone soon.

Strengths:
It looks far more expensive than it is and is built solidly.

Weaknesses:
Serious drag problems.

Customer Service:
Adequate. While they did send me a new reel, they tried to blame me at first, saying that I had stored the reel wet. (I didn''t).And this time, it''s been two weeks and I don''t have my reel ba

Price Paid:  $159.00 at Cabelas

Summary:
Overall disappointed in the performance of the drag system on the AS 7/8. The reel looks good but failed on the river. It did not handle the Kings. The drag is not smooth as it would hold line then abruptly release line. I was told this reel was upgrading from my Scientific Anglers 78. The Scientific Anglers 78 outperforms this reel. If you plan to go after big fish spend your money elsewhere. Even if need to save money to do so. I went with the Ross Canyon at a hundred dollars more. The reel performs.

Strengths:
Looks.

Weaknesses:
Drag system.

Customer Service:
Waiting to find out.

Price Paid:  $125.00 at ebay

Body of Water:
Conejos River

Favorite City:
Antonito

Favorite State:
Co

Favorite Country:
Conejos

Summary:
What a great value. Set it next to the $200 to $350 reels and you would never know it was less than half. Will see if over time the finish continues to look this good. I work as a guide in Colorado and fish most of the pricey stuff because of the guide programs but this reel for the price is hard to beat.

Strengths:
I bought the AS 5/6 for no good reason but when my Sage 3400D that I had ordered for a trip to the salt did not come I loaded some backing and the 8 weight line on the reel. Landed Barracuda on the salt and came home and landed some monster carp in the 15-22 pound range and the reel felt smooth and had the ability to stop a truck. The finish is beautiful and the effort they took to reduce weight by drilling is amazing. Makes you wonder why you ever spent all the money for the Bauers, Loop's,Lamson's, Etc. What a great Value!

Weaknesses:
The only thing I was not crazy about was the outgoing drag had a "pulse" to it.

Customer Service:
Have not used.
