I am reviewing the model 3300 reel. First I will say I have fished top models from Bauer, Hardy, Ross, Galvan OB, Lamson, and SA. I am one of those guys who loves to try them all. Absolutely nothing has impressed me more than my sage 3300. I have fished it hard here in the midwest, Montana, and Wyoming. I use the 3300 for 4, 5, and 6 weight lines. After using several other so-called large arbor reels, I have come to the conclusion that this reel is every thing a large arbor should be(for the line weights given). This reel is Rock Solid. I have fished several high end lightweght Large arbor reels that just didn,t have the integrity of this sage reel. For Example. Try this test. You hook a 20" plus fish and it peels a bunch of line out downstream . Then the fish doubles back towards you. You are cranking on the reel with all you've got to keep up.( Because keeping the fish on the reel is the best way to protect your tippet). ALL of the other super light LA reels I have tried experienced some or a lot of spool deflection. This occurs when the spool is machined to thin or to many holes are machined in it. Or possibly other reasons. When this happens it makes a nasty grinding against the reel frame. Who knows, Maybe I am just cranking to hard. Either way, You can crank as hard as you want with the Sage! This thing has Integrity! Bigtime! At 3.63" in diameter you pick up a ton of line. 100 yds 20# backing with a 6 wt wf line. Plenty of backing. Only 4 oz. I love everthing about it. I have heard people say they were skeptical about the plastic clicker for a drag. Nonsense! It is absolutely fluid. (the 3300 has much mor drag tension adjustment than the 3200). The clicker will wear in time but you get a spare and Sage will send you one any time you ask. I have not heard of one fail. In Montana I fought dozens of Browns in the 16-18" range with ease with this reel. A few rainbows in the 4-5# range. Plenty of drag. always Fluid. Never any spool wobble. Perfectly balanced. I love it! I own two 3300 reels for all of my 4,5,6 wt applications. Don't nock these beauties until you have given one a fair shot. You will thank me. If you dont like it, thier resale value is top notch. They are worth every penny! Strengths:
Rock Solid, Very large diameter picks up a ton of line. Zero spool wobble. Perfect drag for 4,5,6 wt applications. Sage quality. Only 4 ounces Weaknesses:

Sage 3100 reel.
I fished with this reel all last summer. Used mainly for smaller fish found in mountain water. Very nice reel. Strengths:
Dispite its light weight its very strong. Smooth action, As far as I can tell its water tight. Weaknesses:
When the reel is set on low drag. Line that is lieing in the current will tend to unspool more line of the reel. Customer Service:

This is a gorgeous reel. Picked up the 3300 to go with my 596 XP and have been amazed by the performance and balance. Really looks good on the rod with the chrome like appearance. I have been using Hardy Ultralight Disc reels up until now but am now totally sold on these Sage reels. The build quality and innovative spool release system are certainly one step above the Hardy. Have landed fish from ten inches to twenty six inches and have never had a problem with the reel. If the drag isn't enough with the second clicker engaged palming is idiot proof with the exposed highly polished rim. Strengths:
Large arbor design for quick line retrieval and smooth consistent drag. One hundred and fifty yards of twenty pound test backing. Adjustability in the tension of the click drag system. Incredibly light weight for the size. Weaknesses:
None, for the type of lake fishing I mostly do. Customer Service:
