Summary: Teton 4-5 weight. Gunsmoke finish.
A great reel for the price. I would pay much more. Rock solid construction, good drag system. Nice looking reel.
Strengths: The drag on this baby cant be beat for the price. The drag remains smooth and feels really solid even when playing big fish. The exposed rim also allows you to palm the reel when you've got a 'hawg' on your line. Bombproof anodized aluminum construction that is relatively light weight. The lifetime warranty shows that Teton believes in the quality of their products.
Weaknesses: I don't like the sound the reel makes when reeling in line. Its sort of an intermitant clicking sound that makes it sound defective. Others have commented on this too. This is purely a subjective sound preference though and it does not detract from the operation or quality of the reel.
Customer Service: Have not needed any

Summary: Teton makes one of the best fly reels available on the market today. Anyone who claims these reels are not top shelf must work for the other fly reel makers. Don't be mislead by the bad reviews on this website.
Strengths: Machined to perfection! These reals are engineered to catch the strongest steelhead or trout in the stream.
Weaknesses: None that I can speak of. This is reel is in a class of its own.
Customer Service: I fell down and broke the wood handle and bent the aluminum frame spool and Teton sent me two handles and an aluminum frame for no charge.

Summary: I don't understand some of the negative reviews of this reel. I've been using these reels for years and have never had a problem. Many friends I fish with who are guides have been using these reels and swear by them. Teton makes the best reels for the money period. They are solid and can take a beating better than any reels I have used. I used to fish with Ross reels and kept having problems with the reels getting bend on small drops and dings, never had this happen with the full cage contruction of the Teton's. Great reels period!
Strengths: Everything.
Weaknesses: Nothing.
Customer Service: Excellent. Have asked them questions and always receive prompt answers. Needed servicing once and had my reel back in a week. Excellent.

Summary: Used the Teton 9-11 on a gruelling week of fishing in Alaska and it performed flawlessly. The drag on this reel is smooth and will stop a charging salmon in it's tracks. On top of that, the Teton is very durable and stylish. Purchased another one for the coming summer, this time targeting the mamouth Kenai Kings. Have no doubt the Teton will do the job.
Strengths: Drag will stop a train. Holds lots of line, along with stylish design and sturdy frame.
Weaknesses: Stay away from sand or silt
Customer Service: Friendly and stand behind their product

Summary: I would not recommend this reel. It's heavy and a threat to break at any time. After a few uses the spindle handle unscrewed itself from the spool while landing a feisty 14 inch cutthroat. Parts were hitting the water around me. The company's recommended fix did not work and forcing me to send the spool back to the company for repair. It has not happened again but I won't be surprised if it does. If you choose to use a Teton make sure you carry a spare reel at all times. You may need it.
For the money, the Orvis Battenkill is a much better reel.
