at Miami Body of Water: Offshore saltwater islands Favorite City: São Paulo Favorite State: SP Favorite Country: Brazil Summary: This is without a doubt one of the best fly reels made, and personally I think their only real competitor are Abel Reels. I own two models, the Gulfstream and the Riptide. If you want a great reel that you will use for your whole life then get a Tibor.
No wonder why this reel is the prefered one by pratically all Florida guides, wich are without a doubt the best guides in the world. Strengths: Absolutely flawless drag, overall strenght (this reel will last for many generations, no matter how hard you use it), beautifull design and colors, large arbor spool, simplicity and name plate. Weaknesses: A quick release spool would be nice, but I'm being real picky here... besides most reels with quick release spools are not nearly as strong as this one.
Some might say they are a bit heavy, but I don't think so. They balance perfectly with my rods.
Some people also might say that they are pricy... well, there are plenty of reels in the market there are much cheaper, but are they this good? Customer Service: Excellent! This is a serious company. Similar Products Used: None

at almost new, over the Body of Water: Western Cape York Favorite State: Queensland Favorite Country: Australia Summary: My Everglades reel,or more particularly it's drag system, was recently severely tested in the remote saltwater environment of Northern Australia on Blue and Threadfin Salmon,Queenfish,Saratoga,Tarpon and the famous Barramundi. These fish give no quarter, and typically take either scorching runs or head for the nearest underwater obstruction.I believe many other drag systems in this situation would have just burned out.Additionally,at the end of the days fishing, other than backing off the drag, there's no maintenance on the Tibor.Definitely a precision instrument that just happens to be a fly reel. Now,about that Riptide.... Strengths: Design,Engineering,Strength,Durability. Weaknesses: None Customer Service: Not used yet Similar Products Used: Fenwick L/A

$0.00 Body of Water: Great Lake Tribs Favorite State: Michigan Summary: A terrific reel all around. Not just a saltwater reel. I use my Everglades for Salmon and Steelhead and my Freestone for trout. Strengths: Great drag, great machining, awesome gorilla handle on my Everglades, love the name plate, very stylish reel Weaknesses: None, really. Only complaint is that spare spools are pretty expensive Customer Service: Very pleasant to deal with. Haven''t needed anything except dealing with my name plates. $0.00 Body of Water: Island Beach Favorite State: NJ Summary: Excellent Reels say no more. Fit and finish are excellent. I have more Tibors than I know what to do with( but i never change spools)I use the Riptide as a 10wt. for 90% of my saltwater endeavors and like the Everglades as a 9wt(alittle less backing capacity this way , but havent had anything spool me definitely an excellent 8wt. Strengths: workmanship, feel in hand, balance drag etc......... Weaknesses: if there are any it is price, but then again everything today is over priced so we cant win there its all relative Customer Service: used them yrs ago for a drag washer on one of my pates 9 (it was my fault) otherwise havent had to use them Similar Products Used: Billy Pate, Islander
