, from Wrightwood, Ca. USA Body of Water: small rivers & streams Summary: I started out learning how to tie flies using this vise and borrowing it from my fly fishing club over 6 years ago. In my honest opinion it's the best vise to learn how to tie flies and the best vise for under $100 on the market. I would very highly recommend it to anyone who wants to get started in tying flies. Then after they learn the ropes and want to upgrade they will have a better understanding of what they really want. Don't be like me, after using this vise I bought the following vises: a regal type, then a Orvis DanVise, and finally a Dyna-King Barracuda Junior. I should have stuck to the Thompson A until I was ready for the 'cuda. I would have saved some money! Strengths: Well built, strong and durable. Weaknesses: Jaws are a little large for tying small midges. Customer Service: Don't know. Similar Products Used: Dyna-King Barracuda and Barracuda Junior, Danville Rotary, Regal type, and Renzetti 3000 Series.

at Larry's Sporting Goods Body of Water: Bennett Springs Favorite City: Lebanon Favorite State: Missouri Favorite Country: USA Summary: Good vise for the money. Strengths: Well made, solid. Easy to use. I like it on a base rather than the c clamp holder. Can accomodate a wide range of hook sizes. I tie a lot of Woolies and it is perfect for this application. Weaknesses: Jaws are a little to big for midge size hooks, however they can be used in this vise. Customer Service: Excellent. Similar Products Used: This is my first vise.
