Summary:
This is my first vise. I just started tying my own flies about 5 months ago and I am very pleased with everything about this vise for the money.
I have tied 7 different patterns so far(about 130 flies), streamers, nymphs, and drys. While I don't have any experience with a "true rotary" vise, this vise is more than adequate for what I have done.
This is an excellent vise for a beginner.
I highly recommend this vise to anyone!!

Strengths:
This vise came with both a heavy Pedestal base and a C-Clamp.
Holds a hook extremely well! You can bend and break a TMC 300 size 4 hook before it even thinks about slipping.(not that you would want to do this but it just is an example of the hook clamping power of this vise). With the knob adjustments on clamp you can positively control your hook clamping pressure.
Very simple, quick and easy adjustment for different hook sizes.
Quality of Craftsmanship of product for the price.
While not a "true rotary" vise, it still has the capability of rotating the vise head.
Easily dismantled for transportability.
