at Hook & Hackle Body of Water: Eastern Washington (Secret) Favorite City: Everett Favorite State: Washington Favorite Country: USA Summary: I purchased the Regal Rotary Vise Four years ago (time flies, ehe?). This vise is not a "true" rotary as noted in other reviews. I purchased the 'Pedistal' vise with the "Midge" head installed. It has been all that I've ever asked for. I started with a Griffin as most people do. I really like the 'Midge' jaws as they will quickly secure a hook down to about a 28. I have some difficulty in using salmon hooks (here in the PNW), however, I keep the Griffin around for that. The standard range for the Midge Jaws is around a 6 to a 28 for good holding power. Strengths: Rotary-You can check the lay-down of material without a fuss
Quick Hold Cam-Action vise (you don't have to mess with the Lock-Down Screw) Weaknesses: Not a true rotary-Supposedly it's easier to use a true rotary, i.e. Renzetti Travelers vise. Customer Service: Regal will replace the jaws ONCE for improper use (very specific instructions for locking down hooks, read carefully so you don''t have to mess with the time delay). Similar Products Used: Griffin - Demo'd Renzetti

at local shop Favorite Country: Ireland Summary: The most practical vise available Strengths: This vise does everything a vise is supposed to do, nothing more, nothing less. There are no fancy screws to be adjusted, just drop in a hook from size 9/0 to a very small one, and your're ready to tie. Access to the hook is great, also due to the 360 degree rotation (not true rotary, I know, but who really needs that?) The wide head allows you to rest your hand, which is also nice. Weaknesses: Although the standard jaws can and will hold the smallest of hooks, the midge jaws are a nice addition for smaller flies. In fact I use it for everything from a size 10 upto the smallest (which is in practice a size 28). Not really a weakness though, just a matter of design.... Customer Service: I chipped a pair of jaws, my own fault. They were replaced by the shopkeeper, no questions asked. Similar Products Used: Thompson A, Renzetti Master, Dynaking Barracuda and Professional, A.K. Best
