at REI Summary: I just bought the MSR Duralite Classic cookset. Excited about the strength and durability, I took it on the trip where I cooked some simple pasta. The pasta tasted good, the pots were easy to clean.
But the coating on the pots is far from "durable". The pot handle bundled with the set easily scratches through the coating while lifting the pot, and continues to do so while it sits in the pot during transportation. Although I used metal utensils for cooking, I knew they could potentially scratch the coating, so I tried to be very gentle. To no avail. After one single use my pots already have plenty of scratches where the coating has come off completely.
I really don't see why anyone would pay twice the price for the duralite stuff. I used to own the blacklite cookset and it is at least as durable as my new duralite set. Save your money and go for the MSR blacklite cookset instead. Or skip MSR altogether. Customer Service: I contacted MSR customer service about the lack of durability, thinking I might have gotten a bad set. No reply. Similar Products Used: MSR Blacklite Gourmet Cookset
